5.2 Enwau Tai [en-we TAI] house names {haus neimz}

Hi ha una llarga tradici a Galles de posar a les cases dels pobles i de les ciutats un nom, a una placa al costat de la porta principal, o a la porta del jard, al carrer. Poden ser noms del poble d'origen de la famlia, noms ms aviat 'potics', noms de la literatura gallesa, noms de la lluita per l'independncia dels gallesos, etc. Alguns d'aquests noms sn tamb noms de carrers d'urbanitzacins - amb o sense una paraula que denota 'carrer' (heol, ffordd, etc) 

There is a long tradition in Wales of naming houses in villages and towns - the name is usually indicated on a sign by the front door or at a garden gate. They can be names showing where the houseowners came from, names which are romantic or poetic, names from Welsh literature, names of various historical references to the Welsh struggle for freedom from foreign domination, and so on. Here is a list of many such names. Housing estates often have street names not preceded by a word meaning 'street' or 'road' (heol, ffordd, etc)

Al juliol del 1997 es va publicar "Enwau Cymraeg ar Dai" ("noms gallesos de les cases") per en Myrddin ap Dafdd [MR-dhi-nap-DA.vidh] - un llibre en galls de 65 pgines amb una llista d'aquesta mena de noms gallesos (sobretot de l'ouest del pas), observacions sobre els tipus de nom, i una forta crtica de la prctica dels imigrants anglesos de canviar els noms gallesos de les cases que compren a Galles i posar-les noms anglesos.
