1:1 Yn nyddiau Ahasferus, (efe yw
Ahasferus yr hwn oedd yn teyrnasu o India hyd Ethiopia, sef ar gant a saith ar
hugain o daleithiau;)
1:1 Now it came
to pass in the days of Ahasuerus, (this is Ahasuerus which reigned, from India
even unto Ethiopia, over an hundred and seven and twenty provinces:)
1:2 Yn y dyddiau hynny, pan eisteddodd y
brenin Ahasferus ar orseddfa ei frenhiniaeth, yr hon oedd yn Susan y
brenhinllys,
1:2 That in
those days, when the king Ahasuerus sat on the throne of his kingdom, which was
in Shushan the palace,
1:3 Yn y drydedd flwyddyn o’i deyrnasiad,
efe a wnaeth wledd i’w holl dywysogion a’i weision, cadernid Persia, a Media, y
rhaglawiaid, a thywysogion y taleithiau, oedd ger ei fron ef:
1:3 In the
third year of his reign, he made a feast unto all his princes and his servants;
the power of Persia and Media, the nobles and princes of the provinces, being
before him:
1:4 Fel y dangosai efe gyfoeth a
gogoniant ei deyrnas, ac anrhydedd a phrydferthwch ei fawredd, ddyddiau lawer,
sef cant a phedwar ugain o ddyddiau.
1:4 When he
showed the riches of his glorious kingdom and the honour of his excellent
majesty many days, even and hundred and fourscore days.
1:5 Ac wedi gorffen y dyddiau hynny, y brenin
a wnaeth i’r holl bobl a gafwyd yn Susan y brenhinllys, o’r mwyaf hyd y lleiaf,
wledd dros saith niwrnod, yng nghyntedd gardd palas y brenin:
1:5 And when
these days were expired, the king made a feast unto all the people that were
present in Shushan the palace, both unto great and small, seven days, in the
court of the garden of the king’s palace;
1:6 Lle yr oedd llenni gwynion,
gwyrddion, a rhuddgochion, wedi eu clymu â llinynnau sidan, ac â phorffor, wrth
fodrwyau arian, a cholofnau marmor: y gwelyau oedd o aur ac arian, ar balmant o
faen grisial, a marmor, ac alabaster, a iasinct.
1:6 Where were
white, green, and blue, hangings, fastened with cords of fine linen and purple
to silver rings and pillars of marble: the beds were of gold and silver, upon a
pavement of red, and blue, and white, and black, marble.
1:7 Ac yfed diod yr oeddynt mewn llestri
aur, a chyfnewid amryw lestri, a gwin brenhinol lawer, yn ôl gallu y brenin.
1:7 And they
gave them drink in vessels of gold, (the vessels being diverse one from
another,) and royal wine in abundance, according to the state of the king.
1:8 Yr yfed hefyd oedd wrth ddefod, nid
oedd neb yn cymell: canys gosodasai y brenin orchymyn ar bob swyddwr o fewn ei
dŷ, ar wneuthur yn ôl ewyllys pawb.
1:8 And the
drinking was according to the law; none did compel: for so the king had
appointed to all the officers of his house, that they should do according to
every man’s pleasure.
1:9 Y frenhines Fasti hefyd a wnaeth
wledd i’r gwragedd yn y brenhindy oedd eiddo Ahasferus y brenin.
1:9 Also Vashti
the queen made a feast for the women in the royal house which belonged to king
Ahasuerus.
1:10 Ar y seithfed dydd, pan oedd lawen
calon y brenin gan win, efe a ddywedodd wrth Mehuman, Bistha, Harbona, Bigtha,
ac Abagtha, Sethar, a Charcas, y saith ystafellydd oedd yn gweini gerbron y
brenin Ahasferus,
1:10 On the
seventh day, when the heart of the king was merry with wine, he commanded
Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, and Abagtha, Zethar, and Carcas, the seven
chamberlains that served in the presence of Ahasuerus the king,
1:11 Am gyrchu y frenhines Fasti o flaen
y brenin, yn y frenhinol goron, i ddangos i’r bobloedd ac i’r tywysogion ei
glendid hi: canys glân yr olwg ydoedd hi.
1:13 Yna y dywedodd y brenin wrth y
doethion oedd yn gwybod yr amserau, (canys felly yr oedd arfer y brenin tuag at
bob rhai a fyddai yn gwybod cyfraith a barn:
1:13 Then the
king said to the wise men, which knew the times, (for so was the king’s manner
toward all that knew law and judgment:
1:14 A nesaf ato ef oedd Carsena, Sethar,
i Admatha, Tarsis, Meres, Marsena, a Memuchan, saith dywysog Persia a Media, y
rhai oedd yn gweled wyneb y brenin, ac yn eistedd yn gyntaf yn y frenhiniaeth;)
1:14 And the
next unto him was Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena, and
Memucan, the seven princes of Persia and Media, which saw the king’s face, and
which sat the first in the kingdom;)
1:15 Beth sydd i’w wneuthur wrth y
gyfraith i’r frenhines Fasti, am na wnaeth hi archiad y brenin Ahasferus trwy
law yr ystafellyddion?
1:15 What shall
we do unto the queen Vashti according to law, because she hath not performed
the commandment of the king Ahasuerus by the chamberlains?
1:16 And
Memucan answered before the king and the princes, Vashti the queen hath not
done wrong to the king only, but also to all the princes, and to all the people
that are in all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus.
1:19 Os bydd bodlon gan y brenin, eled
brenhinol orchymyn oddi wrtho ef, ac ysgrifenner ef ymysg cyfreithiau y
Persiaid a’r Mediaid, fel na throsedder ef, na ddêl Fasti mwy gerbron y brenin
Ahasferus; a rhodded y brenin ei brenhinfraint hi i’w chyfeilles yr hon sydd
well na hi.
1:20 A phan glywer gorchymyn y brenin, yr
hwn a wnelo efe, trwy ei holl frenhiniaeth, (yr hon sydd fawr,) yna yr holl
wragedd a roddant anrhydedd i’w gwŷr, o’r mwyaf hyd y lleiaf.
1:21 A da oedd y peth yng ngolwg y brenin
a’r tywysogion; a’r brenin a wnaeth yn ôl gair Memuchan:
1:21 And the
saying pleased the king and the princes; and the king did according to the word
of Memucan:
1:22 Canys efe a anfonodd lythyrau i holl
daleithiau y brenin, ie, i bob talaith yn ôl ei ysgrifen, ac at bob pobl yn ôl
eu tafodiaith eu hun; ar fod pob gŵr yn arglwyddiaethu yn ei dŷ ei
hun; a chyhoeddi hyn yn ôl tafodiaith pob rhyw bobl.
1:22 For he
sent letters into all the king’s provinces, into every province according to
the writing thereof, and to every people after their language, that every man
should bear rule in his own house, and that it should be published according to
the language of every people.

2:1 Wedi y pethau hyn, pan lonyddodd
dicllonedd y brenin Ahasferus, efe a gofiodd Fasti, a’r hyn a wnaethai hi, a’r
hyn a farnasid arni.
2:1 After these
things, when the wrath of king Ahasuerus was appeased, he remembered Vashti,
and what she had done, and what was decreed against her.
2:2 Am hynny gweision y brenin, y rhai
oedd yn gweini iddo, a ddywedasant, Ceisier i’r brenin lancesau teg yr olwg o
wyryfon:
2:2 Then said
the king’s servants that ministered unto him, Let there be fair young virgins
sought for the king:
2:3 A gosoded y brenin swyddogion trwy
holl daleithiau ei frenhiniaeth, a chasglant hwythau bob llances deg yr olwg, o
wyry, i Susan y brenhinllys, i dŷ y gwragedd, dan law Hegai, ystafellydd y
brenin, ceidwad y gwragedd, a rhodder iddynt bethau i’w glanhau:
2:3 And let the
king appoint officers in all the provinces of his kingdom, that they may gather
together all the fair young virgins unto Shushan the palace, to the house of
the women, unto the custody of Hege the king’s chamberlain, keeper of the
women; and let their things for purification be given them:
2:4 A’r llances a fyddo da yng ngolwg y
brenin, a deyrnasa yn lle Fasti. A da oedd y peth hyn yng ngolwg y brenin, ac
felly y gwnaeth efe.
2:4 And let the
maiden which pleaseth the king be queen instead of Vashti. And the thing
pleased the king; and he did so.
2:5 Yn Susan y brenhinllys yr oedd rhyw
Iddew a’i enw Mordecai, mab Jair, fab Simei, fab Cis, gŵr o Jemini:
2:5 Now in
Shushan the palace there was a certain Jew, whose name was Mordecai, the son of
Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kish, a Benjamite;
2:6 Yr hwn a ddygasid o Jerwsalem gyda’r
gaethglud a gaethgludasid gyd â Jechoneia brenin Jwda, yr hwn a ddarfuasai i
Nebuchodonosor brenin Babilon ei gaethgludo.
2:6 Who had
been carried away from Jerusalem with the captivity which had been carried away
with Jeconiah king of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had
carried away.
2:7 Ac efe a fagasai Hadassa, honno yw
Esther, merch ei ewythr ef frawd ei dad, canys nid oedd iddi dad na mam: a’r
llances oedd weddeiddlwys, a glân yr olwg; a phan fuasai ei thad a’i mam hi
farw, Mordecai a’i cymerasai hi yn ferch iddo.
2:7 And he
brought up Hadassah, that is, Esther, his uncle’s daughter: for she had neither
father nor mother, and the maid was fair and beautiful; whom Mordecai, when her
father and mother were dead, took for his own daughter.
2:8 A phan gyhoeddwyd gair y brenin a’i
gyfraith, pan gasglasid hefyd lancesau lawer i Susan y brenhinllys dan law
Hegai, cymerwyd Esther i dŷ y brenin, dan law Hegai ceidwad y gwragedd.
2:8 So it came
to pass, when the king’s commandment and his decree was heard, and when many
maidens were gathered together unto Shushan the palace, to the custody of
Hegai, that Esther was brought also unto the king’s house, to the custody of
Hegai, keeper of the women.
2:9 A’r llances oedd deg yn ei olwg ef, a
hi a gafodd ffafr ganddo; am hynny efe ar frys a barodd roddi iddi bethau i’w
glanhau, a’i rhannau, a rhoddi iddi saith o lancesau golygus, o dŷ y
brenin: ac efe a’i symudodd hi a’i llancesau i’r fan orau yn nhŷ y
gwragedd.
2:9 And the
maiden pleased him, and she obtained kindness of him; and he speedily gave her
her things for purification, with such things as belonged to her, and seven
maidens, which were meet to be given her, out of the king’s house: and he
preferred her and her maids unto the best place of the house of the women.
2:10 Ond ni fynegasai Esther ei phobl
na’i chenedl: canys Mordecai a orchmynasai iddi nad ynganai.
2:10 Esther had
not showed her people nor her kindred: for Mordecai had charged her that she
should not show it.
2:11 A Mordecai a rodiodd beunydd flaen
cyntedd tŷ y gwragedd, i wybod llwyddiant Esther, a pheth a wnelid iddi.
2:11 And
Mordecai walked every day before the court of the women’s house, to know how
Esther did, and what should become of her.
2:12 A phan ddigwyddai amser pob llances
i fyned i mewn at y brenin Ahasferus, wedi bod iddi hi yn ôl defod y gwragedd
ddeuddeng mis, (canys felly y cyflawnid dyddiau eu puredigaeth hwynt; chwe mis
mewn olew myrr, a chwe mis mewn peraroglau, a phethau eraill i lanhau y
gwragedd;)
2:12 Now when
every maid’s turn was come to go in to king Ahasuerus, after that she had been
twelve months, according to the manner of the women, (for so were the days of
their purifications accomplished, to wit, six months with oil of myrrh, and six
months with sweet odours, and with other things for the purifying of the
women;)
2:13 Yna fel hyn y deuai y llances at y
brenin; pa beth bynnag a ddywedai hi amdano a roddid iddi, i fyned gyda hi o
dŷ y gwragedd i dŷ y brenin.
2:13 Then thus
came every maiden unto the king; whatsoever she desired was given her to go
with her out of the house of the women unto the king’s house.
2:14 Gyda’r hwyr yr âi hi i mewn, a’r
bore hi a ddychwelai i dŷ arall y gwragedd, dan law Saasgas, ystafellydd y
brenin, ceidwad y gordderchadon: ni ddeuai hi i mewn at y brenin mwyach,
oddieithr i’r brenin ei chwennych hi, a’i galw hi wrth ei henw.
2:14 In the
evening she went, and on the morrow she returned into the second house of the
women, to the custody of Shaashgaz, the king’s chamberlain, which kept the
concubines: she came in unto the king no more, except the king delighted in
her, and that she were called by name.
2:15 A phan ddigwyddodd amser Esther,
merch Abihail ewythr Mordecai, yr hon a gymerasai efe yn ferch iddo, i fyned i
mewn at y brenin, ni cheisiodd hi ddim ond yr hyn a ddywedasai Hegai,
ystafellydd y brenin, ceidwad y gwragedd: ac Esther oedd yn cael ffafr yng
ngolwg pawb a’r oedd yn edrych arni.
2:15 Now when
the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had
taken her for his daughter, was come to go in unto the king, she required
nothing but what Hegai the king’s chamberlain, the keeper of the women,
appointed. And Esther obtained favour in the sight of all them that looked upon
her.
2:16 Felly Esther a gymerwyd at y brenin
Ahasferus, i’w frenhindy ef, yn y degfed mis, hwnnw yw mis Tebeth, yn y
seithfed flwyddyn o’i deyrnasiad ef.
2:16 So Esther
was taken unto king Ahasuerus into his house royal in the tenth month, which is
the month Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign.
2:17 A’r brenin a hoffodd Esther rhagor yr
holl wragedd, a hi a gafodd ffafr a charedigrwydd yn ei ŵydd ef rhagor yr
holl wyryfon; ac efe a osododd y deyrngoron ar ei phen hi, ac a’i gwnaeth yn
frenhines yn lle Fasti.
2:17 And the
king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his
sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head,
and made her queen instead of Vashti.
2:18 Yna y gwnaeth y brenin wledd fawr
i’w holl dywysogion a’i weision, sef gwledd Esther; ac efe a wnaeth ryddid i’r
taleithiau, ac a roddodd roddion yn ôl gallu y brenin.
2:18 Then the
king made a great feast unto all his princes and his servants, even Esther’s
feast; and he made a release to the provinces, and gave gifts, according to the
state of the king.
2:19 A phan gasglwyd y gwyryfon yr ail
waith, yna Mordecai oedd yn eistedd ym mhorth y brenin.
2:19 And when
the virgins were gathered together the second time, then Mordecai sat in the
king’s gate.
2:20 Nid oedd Esther yn mynegi ei
chenedl, na’i phobl; megis y gorchmynai Mordecai iddi: canys Esther oedd yn
gwneuthur yr hyn a ddywedasai Mordecai, fel cynt pan oedd hi yn ei meithrin
gydag ef.
2:20 Esther had
not yet showed her kindred nor her people; as Mordecai had charged her: for
Esther did the commandment of Mordecai, like as when she was brought up with
him.
2:21 Yn y dyddiau hynny, pan oedd
Mordecai yn eistedd ym mhorth y brenin, y llidiodd Bigthan a Theres, dau o
ystafellyddion y brenin, sef o’r rhai oedd yn cadw y trothwy, a cheisiasant
estyn llaw yn erbyn y brenin Ahasferus.
2:21 In those
days, while Mordecai sat in the king’s gate, two of the king’s chamberlains,
Bigthan and Teresh, of those which kept the door, were wroth, and sought to lay
hand on the king Ahasuerus.
2:22 A’r peth a wybu Mordecai; ac efe a’i
mynegodd i Esther y frenhines; ac Esther a’i dywedodd wrth y brenin, yn enw
Mordecai.
2:22 And the
thing was known to Mordecai, who told it unto Esther the queen; and Esther
certified the king thereof in Mordecai’s name.
2:23 A phan chwilwyd y peth, fe a gafwyd
felly: am hynny y crogwyd hwynt ill dau ar bren. Ac ysgrifennwyd hynny mewn
llyfr cronicl gerbron y brenin.
2:23 And when
inquisition was made of the matter, it was found out; therefore they were both
hanged on a tree: and it was written in the book of the chronicles before the
king.

3:1 Wedi y pethau hyn, y brenin Ahasferus
a fawrhaodd Haman mab Hammedatha yr Agagiad, ac a’i dyrchafodd ef; gosododd
hefyd ei orseddfainc ef goruwch yr holl dywysogion oedd gydag ef.
3:1 After these
things did king Ahasuerus promote Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and
advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes that were with him.
3:2 A holl weision y brenin, y rhai oedd
ym mhorth y brenin, oedd yn ymgrymu, ac yn ymostwng i Haman; canys felly y
gorchmynasai y brenin amdano ef: ond nid ymgrymodd Mordecai, ac nid
ymostyngodd.
3:2 And all the
king’s servants, that were in the king’s gate, bowed, and reverenced Haman: for
the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor did him
reverence.
3:3 Yna gweision y brenin, y rhai oedd ym
mhorth y brenin, a ddywedasant wrth Mordecai, Paham yr ydwyt ti yn troseddu
gorchymyn y brenin?
3:3 Then the
king’s servants, which were in the king’s gate, said unto Mordecai, Why
transgressest thou the king’s commandment?
3:4 Ac er eu bod hwy beunydd yn dywedyd
wrtho fel hyn, eto ni wrandawai efe arnynt hwy; am hynny y mynegasant i Haman,
i edrych a safai geiriau Mordecai: canys efe a fynegasai iddynt mai Iddew
ydoedd efe.
3:4 Now it came
to pass, when they spake daily unto him, and he hearkened not unto them, that
they told Haman, to see whether Mordecai’s matters would stand: for he had told
them that he was a Jew.
3:5 A phan welodd Haman nad oedd Mordecai
yn ymgrymu, nac yn ymostwng iddo, Haman a lanwyd o ddicllonedd.
3:5 And when
Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then was Haman full
of wrath.
3:6 Er hynny diystyr oedd ganddo yn ei
olwg ei hun estyn llaw yn erbyn Mordecai ei hunan; canys mynegasant iddo bobl
Mordecai: am hynny Haman a geisiodd ddifetha yr holl Iddewon, y rhai oedd trwy
holl frenhiniaeth Ahasferus, sef pobl Mordecai.
3:6 And he
thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had showed him the
people of Mordecai: wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were
throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai.
3:7 Yn y mis cyntaf, hwnnw yw mis Nisan,
yn y ddeuddegfed flwyddyn i’r brenin Ahasferus, efe a barodd fwrw Pwr, (hwnnw
yw, y coelbren,) gerbron Haman, o ddydd i ddydd, ac o fis i fis, hyd y
deuddegfed mis, hwnnw yw mis Adar.
3:7 In the
first month, that is, the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of king Ahasuerus,
they cast Pur, that is, the lot, before Haman from day to day, and from month
to month, to the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar.
3:8 A Haman a ddywedodd wrth y brenin
Ahasferus, Y mae rhyw bobl wasgaredig a gwahanedig ymhlith y bobloedd, trwy
holl daleithiau dy frenhiniaeth; a’u cyfreithiau hwynt sydd yn amrafaelio oddi
wrth yr holl bobl, ac nid ydynt yn gwneuthur cyfreithiau y brenin; am hynny nid
buddiol i’r brenin eu dioddef hwynt.
3:8 And Haman
said unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and
dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws
are diverse from all people; neither keep they the king’s laws: therefore it is
not for the king’s profit to suffer them.
3:9 O bydd bodlon gan y brenin,
ysgrifenner am eu difetha hwynt: a deng mil o dalentau arian a dalaf ar
ddwylo’r rhai a wnant y weithred hon, i’w dwyn i drysorau y brenin.
3:9 If it
please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed: and I will pay
ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those that have the charge of
the business, to bring it into the king’s treasuries.
3:10 A thynnodd y brenin ei fodrwy oddi
am ei law, ac a’i rhoddes i Haman mab Hammedatha yr Agagiad, gwrthwynebwr yr
Iddewon.
3:10 And the
king took his ring from his hand, and gave it unto Haman the son of Hammedatha
the Agagite, the Jews’ enemy.
3:11 A’r brenin a ddywedodd wrth Haman,
Rhodder yr arian i ti, a’r bobl, i wneuthur â hwynt fel y byddo da yn dy olwg.
3:11 And the
king said unto Haman, The silver is given to thee, the people also, to do with
them as it seemeth good to thee.
3:12 Yna y galwyd ysgrifenyddion y
brenin, yn y mis cyntaf, ar y trydydd dydd ar ddeg o’r mis hwnnw, ac yr
ysgrifennwyd, yn ôl yr hyn oll a orchmynasai Haman, at bendefigion y brenin, ac
at y dugiaid oedd ar bob talaith, ac at dywysogion pob pobl i bob talaith yn ôl
ei ysgrifen, ac at bob pobl yn ôl eu tafodiaith; yn enw y brenin Ahasferus yr
ysgrifenasid, ac â modrwy y brenin y seliasid hyn.
3:12 Then were
the king’s scribes called on the thirteenth day of the first month, and there
was written according to all that Haman had commanded unto the king’s
lieutenants, and to the governors that were over every province, and to the
rulers of every people of every province according to the writing thereof, and
to every people after their language; in the name of king Ahasuerus was it
written, and sealed with the king’s ring.
3:13 A’r llythyrau a anfonwyd gyda’r
rhedegwyr i holl daleithiau y brenin; i ddinistrio, i ladd, ac i ddifetha yr
holl Iddewon, yn ieuainc ac yn hen, yn blant ac yn wragedd, mewn un dydd, sef
ar y trydydd dydd ar ddeg o’r deuddegfed mis, hwnnw yw mis Adar, ac i
ysglyfaethu eu hysbail hwynt.
3:13 And the
letters were sent by posts into all the king’s provinces, to destroy, to kill,
and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young and old, little children and
women, in one day, even upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is
the month Adar, and to take the spoil of them for a prey.
3:14 Testun yr ysgrifen, i roi gorchymyn
ym mhob talaith, a gyhoeddwyd i’r holl bobloedd, i fod yn barod erbyn y diwrnod
hwnnw.
3:14 The copy
of the writing for a commandment to be given in every province was published
unto all people, that they should be ready against that day.
3:15 Y rhedegwyr a aethant, wedi eu
cymell trwy air y brenin, a’r gorchymyn a roddasid yn Susan y brenhinllys. Y

went out, being hastened by the king’s commandment, and the decree was given in
Shushan the palace. And the king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city
Shushan was perplexed.

4:1 When Mordecai
perceived all that was done, Mordecai rent his clothes, and put on sackcloth
with ashes, and went out into the midst of the city, and cried with a loud and
a bitter cry;
4:2 Ac efe a ddaeth hyd o flaen porth y
brenin: ond ni cheid dyfod i borth y brenin mewn gwisg o sach.
4:2 And came
even before the king’s gate: for none might enter into the king’s gate clothed
with sackcloth.
4:3 Ac ym mhob talaith a lle a’r y
daethai gair y brenin a’i orchymyn iddo, yr oedd galar mawr gan yr Iddewon, ac
ympryd, ac wylofain, ac oernad; a llawer a orweddent mewn sachliain a lludw.
4:3 And in
every province, whithersoever the king’s commandment and his decree came, there
was great mourning among the Jews, and fasting, and weeping, and wailing; and
many lay in sackcloth and ashes.
4:4 Yna llancesau Esther a’i
hystafellyddion hi a ddaethant ac a fynegasant hynny iddi hi. A’r frenhines a
dristaodd yn ddirfawr; a hi a ddanfonodd wisgoedd i ddilladu Mordecai, ac i
dynnu ymaith ei sachliain ef oddi amdano; ond ni chymerai efe hwynt.
4:4 So Esther’s
maids and her chamberlains came and told it her. Then was the queen exceedingly
grieved; and she sent raiment to clothe Mordecai, and to take away his
sackcloth from him: but he received it not.
4:5 Am hynny Esther a alwodd ar Hathach,

Esther for Hatach, one of the king’s chamberlains, whom he had appointed to
attend upon her, and gave him a commandment to Mordecai, to know what it was,
and why it was.

i heol y ddinas yr hon sydd o flaen porth y brenin.
4:6 So Hatach
went forth to Mordecai unto the street of the city, which was before the king’s
gate.
4:7 A Mordecai a fynegodd iddo yr hyn oll
a ddigwyddasai iddo; a swm yr arian y rhai a adawsai Haman eu talu i drysorau y
brenin am yr Iddewon, i’w difetha hwynt.
4:7 And
Mordecai told him of all that had happened unto him, and of the sum of the
money that Haman had promised to pay to the king’s treasuries for the Jews, to
destroy them.
4:8 Ac efe a roddodd iddo destun ysgrifen
y gorchymyn a osodasid yn Susan i’w dinistrio hwynt, i’w ddangos i Esther, ac
i’w fynegi iddi, ac i orchymyn iddi fyned i mewn at y brenin, i ymbil ag ef, ac
i ymnhedd o’i flaen ef dros ei phobl.
4:8 Also he
gave him the copy of the writing of the decree that was given at Shushan to
destroy them, to show it unto Esther, and to declare it unto her, and to charge
her that she should go in unto the king, to make supplication unto him, and to
make request before him for her people.
4:9 A Hathach a ddaeth ac a fynegodd i
Esther eiriau Mordecai.
4:9 And Hatach
came and told Esther the words of Mordecai.
4:10 Ac Esther a ddywedodd wrth Hathach,
ac a orchmynnodd iddo ddywedyd wrth Mordecai;
4:10 Again
Esther spake unto Hatach, and gave him commandment unto Mordecai;
4:11 Holl weision y brenin, a phobl
taleithiau y brenin, ydynt yn gwybod, mat pa ŵr bynnag, neu wraig, a ddelo
i mewn at y brenin i’r cyntedd nesaf i mewn, heb ei alw, un o’i gyfreithiau cf
yw ei farwolaethu ef, oddieithr yr hwn yr estynno y brenin y deyrnwialen aur
iddo, fel y byddo byw: ac ni’m galwyd i ddyfod i mewn at y brenin, bellach er
ys deng niwrnod ar hugain.
4:11 All the
king’s servants, and the people of the king’s provinces, do know, that
whosoever, whether man or woman, shall come unto the king into the inner court,
who is not called, there is one law of his to put him to death, except such to
whom the king shall hold out the golden sceptre, that he may live: but I have
not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.

4:12 And they told
to Mordecai Esther’s words.
4:13 Yna Mordecai a ddywedodd am iddynt
ateb Esther, Na feddwl yn dy galon y dihengi yn nhŷ y brenin rhagor yr
holl Iddewon.
4:13 Then
Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt
escape in the king’s house, more than all the Jews.
4:14 Oherwydd os tewi â sôn a wnei di y
pryd hwn, esmwythdra ac ymwared a gyfyd i’r Iddewon o le arall, tithau a
thŷ dy dad a gyfrgollir: a phwy sydd yn gwybod ai oherwydd y fath amser â
hwn y daethost ti i’r frenhiniaeth?
4:14 For if
thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement
and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s
house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom
for such a time as this?
4:15 Yna Esther a ddywedodd am ateb
Mordecai fel hyn:
4:15 Then
Esther bade them return Mordecai this answer,
4:16 Dos, a chasgl yr holl Iddewon a
gaffer yn Susan, ac ymprydiwch drosof fi, na fwytewch hefyd ac nac yfwch dros dridiau,
nos na dydd: a minnau a’m llancesau a ymprydiaf felly: ac felly yr af i mewn at
y brenin, yr hwn beth nid yw gyfreithlon: ac o derfydd amdanaf, darfydded.
4:16 Go, gather
together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither
eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast
likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law:
and if I perish, I perish.
4:17 Felly Mordecai a aeth ymaith, ac a
wnaeth yn ôl yr hyn oll a orchmynasai Esther iddo.
4:17 So
Mordecai went his way, and did according to all that Esther had commanded him.

5:1 Ac ar y trydydd dydd, Esther a
ymwisgodd mewn brenhinol wisgoedd, ac a safodd yng nghyntedd tŷ y brenin
o’r tu mewn, ar gyfer tŷ y brenin: a’r brenin oedd yn eistedd ar ei
deyrngadair yn y brenhindy gyferbyn â drws y tŷ.
5:1 Now it came
to pass on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood in
the inner court of the king’s house, over against the king’s house: and the
king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, over against the gate of the
house.
5:2 A phan welodd y brenin Esther y
frennhines yn sefyll yn y cyntedd, hi a gafodd ffafr yn ei olwg ef: a’r brenin
a estynnodd y deyrnwialen aur oedd yn ei law ef tuag at Esther; ac Esther a

5:2 And it was
so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained
favour in his sight: and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that
was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre.
5:3 Yna y brenin a ddywedodd wrthi, Beth
a fynni di, y frenhines Esther? a pha beth yw dy ddeisyfiad? hyd yn lianner y
frenhiniaeth, ac fe a’i rhoddir i ti.
5:3 Then said
the king unto her, What wilt thou, queen Esther? and what is thy request? it
shall be even given thee to the half of the kingdom.
5:4 A dywedodd Esther, O rhynga bodd i’r
brenin, deled y brenin a Haman heddiw i’r wledd a wneuthum iddo.
5:4 And Esther
answered, If it seem good unto the king, let the king and Haman come this day
unto the banquet that I have prepared for him.
5:5 A’r brenin a ddywedodd, Perwch i
Haman frysio i wneuthur yn ôl gair Esther. Felly y daeth y brenin a Haman i ‘r
wledd a wnaethai Esther.
5:5 Then the
king said, Cause Haman to make haste, that he may do as Esther hath said. So
the king and Haman came to the banquet that Esther had prepared.
5:6 A’r brenin a ddywedodd wrth Esther yng
nghyfeddach y gwin, Beth yr wyt ti yn ei ofyn, ac fe a roddir i ti? a pheth yr
wyt ti yn ei geisio? gofyn hyd yn hanner y frenhiniaeth, ac fe a’i cwblheir.
5:6 And the
king said unto Esther at the banquet of wine, What is thy petition? and it
shall be granted thee: and what is thy request? even to the half of the kingdom
it shall be performed.
5:7 Ac Esther a atebodd, ac a ddywedodd,
Fy nymuniad a’m deisyfiad yw,
5:7 Then
answered Esther, and said, My petition and my request is;
5:8 O chefais ffafr yng ngolwg y brenin,
ac o rhyglydda bodd i’r brenin roddi fy nymuniad, a gwneuthur fy neisyfiad;
deled y brenin a Haman i’r wledd a arlwywyf iddynt, ac yfory y gwnaf yn ôl gair
y brenin.
5:8 If I have
found favour in the sight of the king, and if it please the king to grant my
petition, and to perform my request, let the king and Haman come to the banquet
that I shall prepare for them, and I will do to morrow as the king hath said.
5:9 Yna Haman a aeth allan y dwthwn hwnnw
yn llawen, ac yn hyfryd ei galon: ond pan welodd Haman Mordecai ym mhorth y
brenin, na chyfodasai efe, ac na syflasai erddo ef, Haman a gyflawnwyd o
ddicllonedd yn erbyn Mordecai.
5:9 Then went
Haman forth that day joyful and with a glad heart: but when Haman saw Mordecai
in the king’s gate, that he stood not up, nor moved for him, he was full of
indignation against Mordecai.
5:10 Er hynny Haman a ymataliodd; a phan
ddaeth i’w dŷ ei hun, efe a anfonodd, ac a alwodd am ei garedigion, a
Seres ei wraig.
5:10
Nevertheless Haman refrained himself: and when he came home, he sent and called
for his friends, and Zeresh his wife.
5:11 A Haman a adroddodd iddynt ogoniant
ei gyfoeth, ac amldra ei feibion, a’r hyn oll y mawrhasai y brenin ef ynddynt,
ac fel y dyrchafasai y brenin ef goruwch y tywysogion a gweision y brenin.
5:11 And Haman
told them of the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and
all the things wherein the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him
above the princes and servants of the king.
5:12 A dywedodd Haman hefyd, Ni wahoddodd
Esther y frenhines neb gyda’r brenin i’r wledd a wnaethai hi, ond myfi; ac
yfory hefyd y’m gwahoddwyd ati hi gyda’r brenin.
5:12 Haman said
moreover, Yea, Esther the queen did let no man come in with the king unto the
banquet that she had prepared but myself; and to morrow am I invited unto her
also with the king.
5:13 Ond nid yw hyn oll yn llesáu i mi,
tra fyddwyf fi yn gweled Mordecai yr Iddew yn eistedd ym mhorth y brenin.
5:13 Yet all
this availeth me nothing, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the
king’s gate.
5:14 Yna y dywedodd Seres ei wraig, a’i
holl garedigion wrtho, Paratoer pren o ddeg cufydd a deugain o uchder, a’r bore
dywed wrth y brenin am grogi Mordecai arno; yna dos gyda’r brenin i’r wledd yn
llawen. A da oedd y peth gerbron Hainan, am hynny efe a baratodd y crocbren.
5:14 Then said
Zeresh his wife and all his friends unto him, Let a gallows be made of fifty
cubits high, and to morrow speak thou unto the king that Mordecai may be hanged
thereon: then go thou in merrily with the king unto the banquet. And the thing
pleased Haman; and he caused the gallows to be made.

6:1 On that
night could not the king sleep, and he commanded to bring the book of records
of the chronicles; and they were read before the king.
6:2 Yna y cafwyd yn ysgrifenedig yr hyn a
fynegasai Mordecai am Bigthana a Theres, dau o ystafellyddion y brenin, o’r
rhai oedd yn cadw y trothwy; sef y rhai a geisiasent estyn llaw yn erbyn y
brenin Ahasferus.
6:2 And it was
found written, that Mordecai had told of Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king’s
chamberlains, the keepers of the door, who sought to lay hand on the king
Ahasuerus.
6:3 A dywedodd y brenin, Pa anrhydedd neu
fawredd a wnaed i Mordecai am hyn? A gweision y brenin, sef ei weinidogion ef,
a ddywedasant, Ni wnaed dim erddo ef.
6:3 And the king
said, What honour and dignity hath been done to Mordecai for this? Then said
the king’s servants that ministered unto him, There is nothing done for him.
6:4 A’r brenin a ddywedodd, Pwy sydd yn y
cyntedd? A Haman a ddaethai i gyntedd nesaf allan tŷ y brenin, i ddywedyd
wrth y brenin am grogi Mordecai ar y pren a baratoesai efe iddo.
6:4 And the
king said, Who is in the court? Now Haman was come into the outward court of
the king’s house, to speak unto the king to hang Mordecai on the gallows that
he had prepared for him.
6:5 A gweision y brenin a ddywedasant
wrtho, Wele Haman yn sefyll yn y cyntedd. A dywedodd y brenin, Deled i mewn.
6:5 And the
king’s servants said unto him, Behold, Haman standeth in the court. And the
king said, Let him come in.
6:6 A phan ddaeth Haman i mewn, dywedodd
y brenin wrtho, Beth a wneir i’r gŵr y mae y brenin yn ewyllysio ei
anrhydeddu? Yna Haman a ddywedodd yn ei galon, I bwy yr ewyllysia y brenin
wneuthur anrhydedd yn fwy nag i mi?
6:6 So Haman
came in. And the king said unto him, What shall be done unto the man whom the
king delighteth to honour? Now Haman thought in his heart, To whom would the
king delight to do honour more than to myself?
6:7 A Haman a ddywedodd wrth y brenin, Y

6:7 And Haman
answered the king, For the man whom the king delighteth to honour,
6:8 Dygant y wisg frenhinol iddo, yr hon

brenin arno, a rhodder y frenhinol goron am ei ben ef:
6:8 Let the
royal apparel be brought which the king useth to wear, and the horse that the
king rideth upon, and the crown royal which is set upon his head:
6:9 A rhodder y wisg, a’r march, yn llaw
un o dywysogion ardderchocaf y brenin, a gwisgant am y gŵr y mae y brenin
yn chwennych ei anrhydeddu, a pharant iddo farchogaeth ar y march trwy heol y
ddinas, a chyhoeddant o’i flaen ef, Fel hyn y gwneir i’r gŵr y mae y
brenin yn chwennych ei anrhydeddu.
6:9 And let
this apparel and horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king’s most noble
princes, that they may array the man withal whom the king delighteth to honour,
and bring him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaim before
him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delighteth to honour.
6:10 Yna y brenin a ddywedodd wrth Haman,
Brysia, cymer y wisg a’r march, fel y lleferaist, a gwna felly i Mordecai yr
Iddew, yr hwn sydd yn eistedd ym mhorth y brenin: na ad heb wneuthur ddim o’r
hyn oll a leferaist.
6:10 Then the
king said to Haman, Make haste, and take the apparel and the horse, as thou
hast said, and do even so to Mordecai the Jew, that sitteth at the king’s gate:
let nothing fail of all that thou hast spoken.
6:11 Felly Haman a gymerth y wisg a’r
march, ac a wisgodd am Mordecai, ac a wnaeth hefyd iddo farchogaeth trwy heol y
ddinas, ac a gyhoeddodd o’i flaen ef, Fel hyn y gwneir i’r gŵr y mae y

6:11 Then took
Haman the apparel and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and brought him on
horseback through the street of the city, and proclaimed before him, Thus shall
it be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour.
6:12 A dychwelodd Mordecai i borth y
brenin. A Haman a frysiodd i’w dŷ yn alarus, wedi gorchuddio ei ben.
6:12 And
Mordecai came again to the king’s gate. But Haman hasted to his house mourning,
and having his head covered.
6:13 A Haman a adroddodd i Seres ei
wraig, ac i’w holl garedigion, yr hyn oll a ddigwyddasai iddo. Yna ei
ddoethion, a Seres ei wraig, a ddywedasant wrtho, Os o had yr Iddewon y mae
Mordecai, yr hwn y dechreuaist syrthio o’i flaen, ni orchfygi mohono, ond gan
syrthio y syrthi o’i flaen ef.
6:13 And Haman
told Zeresh his wife and all his friends every thing that had befallen him.
Then said his wise men and Zeresh his wife unto him, If Mordecai be of the seed
of the Jews, before whom thou hast begun to fall, thou shalt not prevail
against him, but shalt surely fall before him.
6:14 Tra yr oeddynt hwy eto yn ymddiddan
ag ef, ystafellyddion y brenin a ddaethant, ac a gyrchasant Haman ar frys i’r
wledd a wnaethai Esther.
6:14 And while
they were yet talking with him, came the king’s chamberlains, and hasted to
bring Haman unto the banquet that Esther had prepared.

7:1 So the king
and Haman came to banquet with Esther the queen.
7:2 A
dywedodd y brenin wrth Esther drachefn yr ail ddydd, wrth gyfeddach y gwin,
Beth yw dy ddymuniad, Esther y frenhines? ac fe a roddir i ti, a pha beth yw dy
ddeisyfiad? gofyn hyd yn hanner y deyrnas, ac fe a’i cwblheir.
7:2 And the
king said again unto Esther on the second day at the banquet of wine, What is
thy petition, queen Esther? and it shall be granted thee: and what is thy
request? and it shall be performed, even to the half of the kingdom.
7:3
A’r frenhines Esther a atebodd, ac a ddywedodd, O chefais ffafr yn dy olwg di,

7:3 Then Esther
the queen answered and said, If I have found favour in thy sight, O king, and
if it please the king, let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at
my request:

Canys gwerthwyd ni, myfi a’m pobl, i’n dinistrio, i’n lladd, ac i’n difetha:
ond pe gwerthasid ni yn gaethweision ac yn gaethforynion, mi a dawswn â sôn, er

7:4 For we are
sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be slain, and to perish. But if we had
been sold for bondmen and bondwomen, I had held my tongue, although the enemy
could not countervail the king’s damage.
7:5
Yna y llefarodd y brenin Ahasferuts, ac y dywedodd wrth Esther y frenhines, Pwy
yw hwnnw? a pha le y mae efe, yr hwn a glywai ar ei galon wneuthur felly?
7:5 Then the
king Ahasuerus answered and said unto Esther the queen, Who is he, and where is
he, that durst presume in his heart to do so?
7:6 A
dywedodd Esther, Y gwrthwynebwr a’r gelyn yw yr Haman drygionus hwn. Yna Haman
a ofnodd gerbron y brenin a’r frenhines.
7:6 And Esther
said, The adversary and enemy is this wicked Haman. Then Haman was afraid
before the king and the queen.
7:7 A’r brenin a gyfododd yn ei
ddicllonedd o gyfeddach y gwin, ac a aeth i ardd y palas: a Haman a safodd i
ymbil ag Esther y frenhines am ei einioes; canys efe a welodd fod drwg wedi ei
baratoi yn ei erbyn ef oddi wrth y brenin.
7:7 And the
king arising from the banquet of wine in his wrath went into the palace garden:
and Haman stood up to make request for his life to Esther the queen; for he saw
that there was evil determined against him by the king.
7:8 Yna y dychwelodd y brenin o ardd y palas i
dŷ cyfeddach y gwin. Ac yr oedd Haman wedi syrthio ar y gwely yr oed
Esther arno. Yna y dywedodd y brenin, Ai treisio y frenhines hefyd y mae efe yn
tŷ gyda mi? Hwy’n
gyntaf ag yr aeth y gair allan o enau y brenin, hwy a orchuddiasant wyneb
Haman.
7:8 Then the
king returned out of the palace garden into the place of the banquet of wine;
and Haman was fallen upon the bed whereon Esther was. Then said the king, Will
he force the queen also before me in the house? As the word went out of the
king’s mouth, they covered Haman’s face.
7:9 A
Harbona, un o’r ystafellyddion, a dywedodd yng ngŵydd y brenin. Wele hefyd
y crocbren a baratôdd Haman i Mordecai, yr hwn a lefarodd ddaioni am y brenin,
yn sefyll yn nhŷ Haman, yn ddeg cufydd a deugain o uchder. Yna y dywedodd
y brenin, Crogwch ef hwnnw.
7:9 And
Harbonah, one of the chamberlains, said before the king, Behold also, the
gallows fifty cubits high, which Haman had made for Mordecai, who had spoken
good for the king, standeth in the house of Haman. Then the king said, Hang him
thereon.
7:10
Felly hwy a grogasant Haman ar y pren a barasai efe ei ddarparu i Mordecai. Yna
dicllonedd y brenin a lonyddodd.
7:10 So they
hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then was the
king’s wrath pacified.

8:1 Y dwthwn hwnnw y rhoddodd brenin
Ahasferus i’r frenhines Esther dŷ Haman gwrthwynebwr yr Iddewon. A
Mordecai a ddaeth o flaen y brenin; canys Esther a fynegasai beth oedd efe iddi
hi.
8:1 On that day
did the king Ahasuerus give the house of Haman the Jews’ enemy unto Esther the
queen. And Mordecai came before the king; for Esther had told what he was unto
her.
8:2 A’r brenin a dynnodd ymaith fodrwy a
gymerasai efe oddi wrth Haman, ac a’i rhoddodd i Mordecai. Ac Esther a osododd
Mordecai ar dŷ Haman.
8:2 And the
king took off his ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it unto
Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.
8:3 Ac Esther a lefarodd drachefn gerbron
y brenin, ac a syrthiodd wrth ei draed ef; wylodd hefyd, ac ymbiliodd ag ef am
fwrw ymaith ddrygioni Haman yr Agagiad, a’i fwriad yr hwn a fwriadasai efe yn erbyn
yr Iddewon.
8:3 And Esther
spake yet again before the king, and fell down at his feet, and besought him
with tears to put away the mischief of Haman the Agagite, and his device that
he had devised against the Jews.
8:4 A’r brenin a estynnodd y deyrnwialen

8:4 Then the
king held out the golden sceptre toward Esther. So Esther arose, and stood
before the king,
8:5 Ac a ddywedodd, O bydd bodlon gan y
brenin, ac o chefais ffafr o’i flaen ef, ac od ydyw y peth yn iawn gerbron y
brenin, a minnau yn gymeradwy yn ei olwg ef; ysgrifenner am alw yn ôl lythyrau
bwriad Haman mab Hammedatha yr Agagiad, y rhai a ysgrifennodd efe i ddifetha’r
Iddewon sydd trwy holl daleithiau y brenin.
8:5 And said,
If it please the king, and if I have found favour in his sight, and the thing
seem right before the king, and I be pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to
reverse the letters devised by Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which
he wrote to destroy the Jews which are in all the king’s provinces:
8:6 Canys pa fodd y gallaf edrych ar y
drygfyd a gaiff fy mhobl? a pha fodd y gallaf edrych ar ddifetha fy nghenedl?
8:6 For how can
I endure to see the evil that shall come unto my people? or how can I endure to
see the destruction of my kindred?
8:7 A’r brenin Ahasferus a ddywedodd wrth
Esther y frenhines, ac wrth Mordecai yr Iddew, Wele, tŷ Haman a roddais i
Esther, a hwy a’i crogasant ef ar y pren, am iddo estyn ei law yn erbyn yr
Iddewon.
8:7 Then the
king Ahasuerus said unto Esther the queen and to Mordecai the Jew, Behold, I
have given Esther the house of Haman, and him they have hanged upon the
gallows, because he laid his hand upon the Jews.
8:8 Ysgrifennwch chwithau hefyd dros yr
Iddewon fel y gweloch yn dda, yn enw y brenin, ac inseliwch â modrwy y brenin:
canys yr ysgrifen a ysgrifennwyd yn enw y brenin ac a seliwyd â modrwy y
brenin, ni all neb ei datroi.
8:8 Write ye
also for the Jews, as it liketh you, in the king’s name, and seal it with the
king’s ring: for the writing which is written in the king’s name, and sealed
with the king’s ring, may no man reverse.
8:9 Yna y galwyd ysgrifenyddion y brenin
yr amser hwnnw yn y trydydd mis, hwnnw yw y mis Sifan, ar y trydydd dydd ar
hugain ohono, ac ysgrifennwyd, yn ôl yr hyn oll a orchmynnodd Mordecai, at yr
Iddewon, ac at y rhaglawiaid, y penaduriaid hefyd, a thywysogion y taleithiau,
y rhai oedd o India hyd Ethiopia, sef cant a saith ar hugain o daleithiau, i
bob talaith wrth ei hysgrifen, ac at bob pobl yn ôl eu tafodiaith: at yr
Iddewon hefyd yn ôl eu hysgrifen hwynt, ac yn ôl eu tafodiaith.
8:9 Then were
the king’s scribes called at that time in the third month, that is, the month
Sivan, on the three and twentieth day thereof; and it was written according to
all that Mordecai commanded unto the Jews, and to the lieutenants, and the
deputies and rulers of the provinces which are from India unto Ethiopia, an
hundred twenty and seven provinces, unto every province according to the writing
thereof, and unto every people after their language, and to the Jews according
to their writing, and according to their language.
8:10 Ac efe a ysgrifennodd yn enw y
brenin Ahasferus, ac a’i seliodd â modrwy y brenin; ac a anfonodd lythyrau
gyda’r rhedegwyr yn marchogaeth at feirch, dromedariaid, mulod, ac ebolion
cesig:
8:10 And he
wrote in the king Ahasuerus’ name, and sealed it with the king’s ring, and sent
letters by posts on horseback, and riders on mules, camels, and young
dromedaries:
8:11 Trwy y rhai y caniataodd y brenin
i’r Iddewon, y rhai oedd ym mhob dinas, ymgynnull, a sefyll am eu heinioes, i
ddinistrio, i ladd, ac i ddifetha holl allu y bobl a’r dalaith a osodai arnynt,
yn blant ac yn wragedd, ac i ysglyfaethu eu hysbail hwynt;
8:11 Wherein
the king granted the Jews which were in every city to gather themselves
together, and to stand for their life, to destroy, to slay, and to cause to
perish, all the power of the people and province that would assault them, both
little ones and women, and to take the spoil of them for a prey,
8:12 Mewn un dydd, trwy holl daleithiau y
brenin Ahasferus, sef ar y trydydd dydd ar ddeg o’r deuddegfed mis, hwnnw yw
mis Adar.
8:12 Upon one
day in all the provinces of king Ahasuerus, namely, upon the thirteenth day of
the twelfth month, which is the month Adar.
8:13 Testun yr ysgrifen, i roddi
gorchymyn ym mhob talaith, a gyhoeddwyd i bob rhyw bobl; ac ar fod yr Iddewon
yn barod erbyn y diwrnod hwnnw i ymddial ar eu gelynion.
8:13 The copy
of the writing for a commandment to be given in every province was published
unto all people, and that the Jews should be ready against that day to avenge
themselves on their enemies.
8:14 Y rhedegwyr, y rhai oedd yn
marchogaeth y dromedariaid a’r mulod, a aethant ar frys, wedi eu gyrru trwy air
y brenin; a’r gorchymyn a roddasid yn Susan y brenhinllys.
8:14 So the
posts that rode upon mules and camels went out, being hastened and pressed on
by the king’s commandment. And the decree was given at Shushan the palace.
8:15 A Mordecai a aeth allan o ŵydd
y brenin mewn brenhinol wisg o ruddgoch a gwyn, ac â choron fawr o aur, ac mewn
dillad sidan a phorffor; a dinas Susan a orfoleddodd ac a lawenychodd:
8:15 And
Mordecai went out from the presence of the king in royal apparel of blue and
white, and with a great crown of gold, and with a garment of fine linen and
purple: and the city of Shushan rejoiced and was glad.
8:16 I’r Iddewon yr oedd goleuni, a
llawenydd, a hyfrydwch, ac anrhydedd.
8:16 The Jews
had light, and gladness, and joy, and honour.
8:17 Ac ym mhob talaith, ac ym mhob
dinas, lle y daeth gair y brenin a’i orchymyn, yr oedd llawenydd a hyfrydwch
gan yr Iddewon, gwledd hefyd a diwrnod daionus: a llawer o bobl y wlad a
aethant yn Iddewon; oblegid arswyd yr Iddewon a syrthiasai arnynt hwy.
8:17 And in
every province, and in every city, whithersoever the king’s commandment and his
decree came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and a good day. And many of
the people of the land became Jews; for the fear of the Jews fell upon them.
PENNOD 9
9:1 Felly yn y deuddegfed mis, hwnnw yw
mis Adar, ar y trydydd dydd ar ddeg ohono, pan nesaodd gair y brenin a’i
orchymyn i’w cwblhau; yn y dydd y gobeithiasai gelynion yr Iddewon y caent
fuddugoliaethu arnynt, (ond yn y gwrthwyneb i hynny y bu, canys yr Iddewon a
arglwyddiaethasant ar eu caseion;)
9:1 Now in the
twelfth month, that is, the month Adar, on the thirteenth day of the same, when
the king’s commandment and his decree drew near to be put in execution, in the
day that the enemies of the Jews hoped to have power over them, (though it was
turned to the contrary, that the Jews had rule over them that hated them;)
9:2 Yr Iddewon a ymgynullasant yn eu
dinasoedd, trwy holl daleithiau y brenin Ahasferus, i estyn llawyn erbyn y rhai
oedd yn ceisio niwed iddynt: ac ni safodd neb yn eu hwynebau; canys eu harswyd
a syrthiasai ar yr holl bobloedd.
9:2 The Jews
gathered themselves together in their cities throughout all the provinces of
the king Ahasuerus, to lay hand on such as sought their hurt: and no man could
withstand them; for the fear of them fell upon all people.
9:3 A holl dywysogion y taleithiau, a’r
pendefigion, a’r dugiaid, a’r rhai oedd yn gwneuthur y gwaith oedd eiddo y
brenin, oedd yn cynorthwyo’r Iddewon: canys arswyd Mordecai a syrthiasai arnynt
hwy.
9:3 And all the
rulers of the provinces, and the lieutenants, and the deputies, and officers of
the king, helped the Jews; because the fear of Mordecai fell upon them.
9:4 Canys mawr oedd Mordecai yn nhŷ
y brenin, a’i glod ef oedd yn myned trwy yr holl daleithiau: oherwydd y
gŵr hwn Mordecai oedd yn myned rhagddo, ac yn cynyddu.
9:4 For
Mordecai was great in the king’s house, and his fame went out throughout all
the provinces: for this man Mordecai waxed greater and greater.
9:5 Felly yr Iddewon a drawsant eu holl
elynion â dyrnod y cleddyf, a lladdedigaeth, a distryw; a gwnaethant i’w
caseion yn ôl eu hewyllys eu hun.
9:5 Thus the
Jews smote all their enemies with the stroke of the sword, and slaughter, and
destruction, and did what they would unto those that hated them.
9:6 Ac yn Susan y brenhinllys, yr Iddewon
a laddasant ac a ddifethasant bum cant o wŷr.
9:6 And in
Shushan the palace the Jews slew and destroyed five hundred men.
9:7 Parsandatha hefyd, a Dalffon, ac
Aspatha,
9:7 And
Parshandatha, and Dalphon, and Aspatha,
9:8 Poratha hefyd, ac Adalia, ac
Aridatha,
9:8 And
Poratha, and Adalia, and Aridatha,
9:9 Parmasta hefyd, ac Arisai, Aridai
hefyd, a Bajesatha,
9:9 And Parmashta,
and Arisai, and Aridai, and Vajezatha,
9:10 Deng mab Haman mab Hammedatha,
gwrthwynebwr yr Iddewon, a laddasant hwy: ond nid estynasant ^u llawar yr
anrhaith.
9:10 The ten
sons of Haman the son of Hammedatha, the enemy of the Jews, slew they; but on
the spoil laid they not their hand.
9:11 Y dwthwn hwnnw nifer y lladdedigion
yn Susan y brenhindy a ddaeth gerbron y brenin.
9:11 On that
day the number of those that were slain in Shushan the palace was brought
before the king.
9:12 A dywedodd y brenin wrth Esther y
frenhines, Yr Iddewon a laddasant ac a ddifethasant yn Susan y brenhinllys, bum
cant o wŷr, a deng mab Haman; yn y rhan arall o daleithiau y brenin beth a
wnaethant hwy? beth gan hynny yw dy ddymuniad? ac fe a roddir i ti; a pheth yw dy
ddeisyfiad ymhellach? ac fe a’i gwneir.
9:12 And the
king said unto Esther the queen, The Jews have slain and destroyed five hundred
men in Shushan the palace, and the ten sons of Haman; what have they done in
the rest of the king’s provinces? now what is thy petition? and it shall be
granted thee: or what is thy request further? and it shall be done.
9:13 Yna y dywedodd Esther, O rhyglydda
bodd i’r brenin, caniataer yfory i’r Iddewon sydd yn Susan wneuthur yn ôl y
gorchymyn heddiw: a chrogant ddeng mab Haman ar y pren.
9:13 Then said
Esther, If it please the king, let it be granted to the Jews which are in
Shushan to do to morrow also according unto this day’s decree, and let Haman’s
ten sons be hanged upon the gallows.
9:14 A’r brenin a ddywedodd am wneuthur
felly, a’r gorchymyn a roddwyd yn Susan: a hwy a grogasant ddeng mab Haman.
9:14 And the
king commanded it so to be done: and the decree was given at Shushan; and they
hanged Haman’s ten sons.
9:15 Felly yr Iddewon, y rhai oedd yn
Susan, a ymgynullasant ar y pedwerydd dydd ar ddeg o fis Adar hefyd, ac a
laddasant dri chant o wŷr yn Susan: ond nid estynasant eu llaw ar yr
ysbail.
9:15 For the
Jews that were in Shushan gathered themselves together on the fourteenth day
also of the month Adar, and slew three hundred men at Shushan; but on the prey
they laid not their hand.
9:16 A’r rhan arall o’r Iddewon, y rhai
oedd yn nhaleithiau y brenin a ymgasglasant, ac a safasant am eu heinioes, ac a
gawsant lonyddwch gan eu gelynion, ac a laddasant bymtheng mil a thrigain o’u
caseion: ond nid estynasant eu llaw ar yr anrhaith.
9:16 But the
other Jews that were in the king’s provinces gathered themselves together, and
stood for their lives, and had rest from their enemies, and slew of their foes
seventy and five thousand, but they laid not their hands on the prey,
9:17 Ar y trydydd dydd ar ddeg o fis Adar
y bu hyn, ac ar y pedwerydd dydd ar ddeg ohono y gorffwysasant, ac y
cynaliasant ef yn ddydd gwledd a gorfoledd.
9:17 On the
thirteenth day of the month Adar; and on the fourteenth day of the same rested
they, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.
9:18 Ond yr Iddewon, y rhai oedd yn
Susan, a ymgynullasant ar y trydydd dydd ar ddeg ohono, ac ar y pedwerydd dydd
ar ddeg ohono; ac ar y pymthegfed ohono y gorffwysasant, a gwnaethant ef yn
ddydd cyfeddach a llawenydd.
9:18 But the
Jews that were at Shushan assembled together on the thirteenth day thereof, and
on the fourteenth thereof; and on the fifteenth day of the same they rested,
and made it a day of feasting and gladness.
9:19 Am hynny Iddewon y pentrefi, y rhai
oedd yn trigo mewn dinasoedd heb gaerau, oedd yn cynnal y pedwerydd dydd ar
ddeg o’r mis Adar, mewn llawenydd a chyfeddach, ac yn ddiwrnod daionus, ac i
anfon rhannau i’w gilydd.
9:19 Therefore
the Jews of the villages, that dwelt in the unwalled towns, made the fourteenth
day of the month Adar a day of gladness and feasting, and a good day, and of
sending portions one to another.
9:20 A Mordecai a ysgrifennodd y geiriau hyn,
ac a anfonodd lythyrau at yr holl Iddewon oedd trwy holl daleithiau y brenin
Ahasferus, yn agos oc ymhell,
9:20 And
Mordecai wrote these things, and sent letters unto all the Jews that were in
all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus, both nigh and far,
9:21 I ordeinio iddynt gadw y pedwerydd
dydd ar ddeg o fis Adar, a’r pymthegfed dydd ohono, bob blwyddyn;
9:21 To
stablish this among them, that they should keep the fourteenth day of the month
Adar, and the fifteenth day of the same, yearly,
9:22 Megis y dyddiau y cawsai yr Iddewon
ynddynt lonydd gan eu gelynion, a’r mis yr hwn a ddychwelasai iddynt o dristwch
i lawenydd, ac o alar yn ddydd daionus: gan eu cynnal hwynt yn ddyddiau gwledd
a llawenydd, a phawb yn anfon anrhegion i’w gilydd, a rhoddion i’r rhai
anghenus.
9:22 As the
days wherein the Jews rested from their enemies, and the month which was turned
unto them from sorrow to joy, and from mourning into a good day: that they
should make them days of feasting and joy, and of sending portions one to
another, and gifts to the poor.
9:23 A’r Iddewon a gymerasant arnynt
wneuthur fel y dechreuasent, ae fel yr ysgrifenasai Mordecai atynt.
9:23 And the
Jews undertook to do as they had begun, and as Mordecai had written unto them;
9:24 Canys Haman mab Hammedatha yr
Agagiad, gwrthwynebwr yr holl Iddewon, a arfaethasai yn erbyn yr Iddewon, am eu
difetha hwynt; ac efe a fwriasai Pwr, hwnnw yw y coelbren, i’w dinistrio hwynt,
ac i’w difetha:
9:24 Because
Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the enemy of all the Jews, had
devised against the Jews to destroy them, and had cast Pur, that is, the lot,
to consume them, and to destroy them;
9:25 A phan ddaeth Esther o flaen y
brenin, efe a archodd trwy lythyrau, ddychwelyd ei ddrwg fwriad ef, yr hwn a
fwriadodd efe yn erbyn yr Iddewon, ar ei ben ei hun; a’i grogi ef a’i feibion
ar y pren.
9:25 But when
Esther came before the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked device,
which he devised against the Jews, should return upon his own head, and that he
and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.
9: 26 Am hynny y galwasant y dyddiau hynny
Pwrim, ar enw y Pwr: am hynny, oherwydd holl eiriau y llythyr hwn, ac oherwydd
y peth a welsent hwy am y peth hyn, a’r peth a ddigwyddasai iddynt,
9:26 Wherefore
they called these days Purim after the name of Pur. Therefore for all the words
of this letter, and of that which they had seen concerning this matter, and
which had come unto them,
9:27 Yr Iddewon a ordeiniasant, ac a
gymerasant arnynt, ac ar eu had, ac ar yr holl rai oedd yn un â hwynt, na
phallai bod cynnal y ddau ddydd hynny, yn ôl eu hysgrifen hwynt, ac yn ôl eu
tymor, bob blwyddyn:
9:27 The Jews
ordained, and took upon them, and upon their seed, and upon all such as joined
themselves unto them, so as it should not fail, that they would keep these two
days according to their writing, and according to their appointed time every
year;
9:28 Ac y byddai y dyddiau hynny i’w
cofio, ac i’w cynnal trwy bob cenhedlaeth, a phob teulu, pob talaith, a phob
dinas; sef na phallai y dyddiau Pwrim hynny o fysg yr Iddewon, ac na ddarfyddai
eu coffadwriaeth hwy o blith eu had.
9:28 And that
these days should be remembered and kept throughout every generation, every
family, every province, and every city; and that these days of Purim should not
fail from among the Jews, nor the memorial of them perish from their seed.
9:29 Ac ysgrifennodd Esther y frenhines
merch Abihail, a Mordecai yr Iddew, trwy eu holl rym, i sicrhau ail lythyr y
Pwrim hwn.
9:29 Then
Esther the queen, the daughter of Abihail, and Mordecai the Jew, wrote with all
authority, to confirm this second letter of Purim.
9:30 Ac efe a anfonodd lythyrau at yr
holl Iddewon, trwy y cant a’r saith, dalaith ar hugain o frenhiniaeth
Ahasferus, a geiriau heddwch a gwirionedd;
9:30 And he
sent the letters unto all the Jews, to the hundred twenty and seven provinces
of the kingdom of Ahasuerus, with words of peace and truth,
9:31 I sicrhau y dyddiau Pwrim hynny yn
eu tymhorau, fel yr ordeiniasai Mordecai yr Iddew, ac Esther y frenhines,
iddynt hwy, ac fel yr ordeiniasent hwythau drostynt eu hun, a thros eu had,
eiriau yr ymprydiau a’u gwaedd.
9:31 To confirm
these days of Purim in their times appointed, according as Mordecai the Jew and
Esther the queen had enjoined them, and as they had decreed for themselves and
for their seed, the matters of the fastings and their cry.
9:32 Ac ymadrodd Esther a gadarnhaodd
achosion y dyddiau Pwrim hynny: ae ysgrifennwyd hyn mewn llyfr.
9:32 And the decree
of Esther confirmed these matters of Purim; and it was written in the book.

10:1 A’r brenin Ahasferus a osododd dreth
ar y wlad, ac ar ynysoedd y môr.
10:1 And the
king Ahasuerus laid a tribute upon the land, and upon the isles of the sea.
10:2 A holl weithredoedd ei rym ef, a’i
gadernid, a hysbysrwydd o fawredd Mordecai, â’r hwn y mawrhaodd y brenin ef,
onid ydynt hwy yn ysgrifenedig yn llyfr cronicl brenhinoedd Media a Phersia?
10:2 And all the
acts of his power and of his might, and the declaration of the greatness of
Mordecai, whereunto the king advanced him, are they not written in the book of
the chronicles of the kings of Media and Persia?
10:3 Canys Mordecai yr Iddew oedd yn nesaf
i’r brenin Ahasferus, ac yn fawr gan yr Iddewon, ac yn gymeradwy ymysg lliaws
ei frodyr; yn ceisio daioni i’w bobl, ac yn dywedyd am heddwch i’w holl
hiliogaeth.
10:3 For
Mordecai the Jew was next unto king Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews, and
accepted of the multitude of his brethren, seeking the wealth of his people,
and speaking peace to all his seed.
