PENNOD 1

1:1 Geiriau Amos, (yr hwn oedd ymysg bugeiliaid Tecoa,) y rhai a welodd efe am Israel, yn nyddiau Usseia brenin Jwda, ac yn nyddiau Jeroboam mab Joas brenin Israel, ddwy flynedd o flaen y ddaeargryn.
1:1 The words of Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.

1:2
Ac efe a ddywedodd, Yr ARGLWYDD a rua o Seion, ac a rydd ei lef o Jerwsalem; a chyfanheddau y bugeiliaid a alarant, a phen Carmel a wywa.
1:2 And he said, The LORD will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither.

1:3
Fel hyn y dywed yr ARGLWYDD; Oherwydd tair o anwireddau Damascus, ac oherwydd pedair, ni throaf ymaith ei chosb hi: am iddynt ddyrnu Gilead ag offer dyrnu o heyrn.
1:3 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron:

1:4
Ond anfonaf dân i dŷ Hasael, ac efe a ddifa balasau Benhadad.
1:4 But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad.

1:5
Drylliaf drosol Damascus, a thorraf ymaith y preswylwyr o ddyffryn Afen, a’r hwn sydd yn dal teyrnwialen o dŷ Eden; a phobl Syria a ânt yn gaeth i Cir, medd yr ARGLWYDD.
1:5 I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the LORD.

1:6
Fel hyn y dywed yr ARGLWYDD;. Am dair o anwireddau Gasa, ac am bedair, ni throaf ymaith ei chosb hi; am iddynt gaethgludo y gaethiwed gyflawn, i’w rhoddi i fyny i Edom.
1:6 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they carried away captive the whole captivity, to deliver them up to Edom:

1:7
Eithr anfonaf dân ar fur Gasa, ac efe a ddifa ei phalasau hi.
1:7 But I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof:

1:8
A mi a dorraf y preswylwyr o Asdod, a’r hwn a ddeil deyrnwialen o Ascalon; a throaf fy llaw yn erbyn Ecron, a derfydd am weddill y Philistiaid, medd yr ARGLWYDD DDUW.
1:8 And I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn mine hand against Ekron: and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord GOD.

1:9
Fel hyn y dywed yr ARGLWYDD; Am dair o anwireddau Tyrus, ac am bedair, ni throaf ymaith ei chosb hi; oherwydd iddynt hwy roddi i fyny gwbl o’r gaethiwed i Edom, ac na chofiasant y cyfamod brawdol.
1:9 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant:

1:10
Eithr anfonaf dân i fur Tyrus, ac efe a ddifa ei phalasau hi.
1:10 But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyrus, which shall devour the palaces thereof.

1:11
Fel hyn y dywed yr ARGLWYDD; Am dair o anwireddau Edom, ac am bedair, ni throaf ymaith ei chosb hi; am iddo erlid ei frawd â’r cleddyf, a llygru ei drugaredd, a bod ei ddig yn rhwygo yn wastadol, a’i fod yn cadw ei lid yn dragwyddol.
1:11 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:

1:12
Eithr anfonaf dan i Teman, yr hwn a ddifa balasau Bosra.
1:12 But I will send a fire upon Teman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.

1:13
Fel hyn y dywed yr ARGLWYDD; Am dair o anwireddau meibion Ammon, ac am bedair, ni throaf ymaith ei chosb hi; am iddynt hwy rwygo gwragedd beichiogion Gilead, er mwyn helaethu eu terfynau.
1:13 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border:

1:14
Eithr cyneuaf dân ym mur Rabba, ae efe a ddifa ei phalasau, gyda gwaedd ar ddydd y rhyfel, gyda thymestl ar ddydd corwynt.
1:14 But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind:

1:15
A’u brenin a â yn gaeth, efe a’i benaethiaid ynghyd, medd yr ARGLWYDD.
1:15 And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, saith the LORD.

PENNOD 2

2:1 Fel hyn y dywed yr ARGLWYDD; Am dair o anwireddau Moab, ac am bedair, ni throaf ymaith ei chosb hi; am iddo losgi esgyrn brenin Edom yn galch.
2:1 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime:

2:2
Eithr anfonaf dân i Moab, yr hwn a ddifa balasau Cerioth: a Moab fydd marw mewn terfysg, gweiddi, a llais utgorn.
2:2 But I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kirioth: and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet:

2:3
A mi a dorraf ymaith y barnwr o’i chanol hi, a’i holl bendefigion a laddaf gydag ef, medd yr ARGLWYDD.
2:3 And I will cut off the judge from the midst thereof, and will slay all the princes thereof with him, saith the LORD.

2:4
Fel hyn y dywed yr ARGLWYDD; Am dair o anwireddau Jwda, ac am bedair, ni throaf ymaith ei chosb hi; am iddynt ddirmygu cyfraith yr ARGLWYDD, ac na chadwasant ei ddeddfau ef; a’u celwyddau a’u cyfeiliornodd hwynt, y rhai yr aeth eu tadau ar eu hôl.
2:4 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have despised the law of the LORD, and have not kept his commandments, and their lies caused them to err, after the which their fathers have walked:

2:5
Eithr anfonaf dân i Jwda, ac efe a ddifa balasoedd Jerwsalem.
2:5 But I will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.

2:6
Fel hyn y dywed yr ARGLWYDD; Am dair o anwireddau Israel, ac am bedair, ni throaf ymaith ei chosb hi; am iddynt werthu y cyfiawn am arian, a’r tlawd er pâr o esgidiau:
2:6 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of shoes;

2:7
Y rhai a ddyheant ar ôl llwch y ddaear ar ben y tlodion, ac a wyrant ffordd y gostyngedig: a gŵr a’i dad a â at yr un llances, i halogi fy enw sanctaidd.
2:7 That pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father will go in unto the same maid, to profane my holy name:

2:8
Ac ar ddillad wedi eu rhoi yng ngwystl y gorweddant wrth bob allor; a gwin y dirwyol a yfant yn nhŷ eu duw.
2:8 And they lay themselves down upon clothes laid to pledge by every altar, and they drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their god.

2:9
Eto myfi a ddinistriais yr Amoriad o’u blaen hwynt, yr hwn yr oedd ei uchder fel uchder y cedrwydd, ac efe oedd gryf fel derw; eto mi a ddinistriais ei ffrwythau oddi arnodd, a’i wraidd oddi tanodd.
2:9 Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.

2:10
Myfi hefyd a’ch dygais chwi i fyny o wlad yr Aifft, ac a’ch arweiniais chwi ddeugain mlynedd trwy yr anialwch, i feddiannu gwlad yr Amoriad.
2:10 Also I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.

2:11
A mi a gyfodais o’ch meibion chwi rai yn broffwydi, ac o’ch gwŷr ieuainc rai yn Nasareaid. Oni bu hyn, O meibion Israel? medd yr ARGLWYDD
2:11 And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazarites. Is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith the LORD.

2:12
Ond chwi a roesoch i’r Nasareaid win i’w yfed, ac a orchmynasoch i’ch proffwydi, gan ddywedyd, Na phroffwydwch.
2:12 But ye gave the Nazarites wine to drink; and commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not.

2:13 Wele fi wedi fy llethu tanoch fel y llethir y fen lawn o ysgubau.
2:13 Behold, I am pressed under you, as a cart is pressed that is full of sheaves.

2:14
A metha gan y buan ddianc, a’r cryf ni chadarnha ei rym, a’r cadarn ni wared ei enaid ei hun:
2:14 Therefore the flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force, neither shall the mighty deliver himself:

2:15
Ni saif a ddalio y bwa, ni ddianc y buan o draed, nid achub marchog march ei einioes ei hun.
2:15 Neither shall he stand that handleth the bow; and he that is swift of foot shall not deliver himself: neither shall he that rideth the horse deliver himself.

2:16
A’r cryfaf ei galon o’r cedyrn a ffy y dwthwn hwnnw yn noeth lymun medd yr ARGLWYDD.
2:16 And he that is courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day, saith the LORD.

PENNOD 3

3:1 Gwrandewch y gair a lefarodd yr ARGLWYDD i’ch erbyn chwi, plant Israel, yn erbyn yr holl deulu a ddygais i fyny o wlad yr Aifft, gan ddywedyd,
3:1 Hear this word that the LORD hath spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying,

3:2
Chwi yn unig a adnabûm o holl deuluoedd y ddaear: am hynny ymwelaf â chwi am eich holl anwireddau.
3:2 You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.

3:3
A rodia dau ynghyd, heb fod yn gytûn?
3:3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

3:4
A rua y llew yn y goedwig, heb ganddo ysglyfaeth? a leisia cenau llew o’i ffau, heb ddal dim?
3:4 Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will a young lion cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing?

3:5
A syrth yr aderyn yn y fagl ar y ddaear, heb fod croglath iddo? a gyfyd un y fagl oddi ar y ddaear, heb ddal dim?
3:5 Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no gin is for him? shall one take up a snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all?

3:6
A genir utgorn yn y ddinas, heb ddychrynu o’r bobi? a fydd niwed yn y ddinas, heb i’r ARGLWYDD ei wneuthur?
3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?

3:7
Canys ni wna yr ARGLWYDD ddim, a’r nas dangoso ei gyfrinach i’w weision y proffwydi.
3:7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

3:8
Rhuodd y llew, pwy nid ofna? yr Arglwydd IÔR a lefarodd, pwy ni phroffwyda?
3:8 The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy?

3:9
Cyhoeddwch o fewn y palasau yn Asdod, ac yn y palasau yng ngwlad yr Aifft, a dywedwch, Deuwch ynghyd ar fynyddoedd Samaria, a gwelwch derfysgoedd lawer o’i mewn, a’r gorthrymedigion yn ei chanol hi.
3:9 Publish in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold the great tumults in the midst thereof, and the oppressed in the midst thereof.

3:10
Canys ni fedrant wneuthur uniondeb, medd yr ARGLWYDD: pentyrru y maent drais ac ysbail yn eu palasau.
3:10 For they know not to do right, saith the LORD, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.

3:11
Am hynny fel hyn y dywed yr ARGLWYDD DDUW; Gelyn fydd o amgylch y tir; ac efe a dynn i lawr dy nerth oddi wrthyt, a’th balasoedd a ysbeilir.
3:11 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; An adversary there shall be even round about the land; and he shall bring down thy strength from thee, and thy palaces shall be spoiled.

3:12
Fel hyn y dywed yr ARGLWYDD; Fel yr achub y bugail o safn y llew y ddwygoes, neu ddarn o glust, felly yr achubir meibion Israel y rhai sydd yn trigo yn Samaria mewn cwr gwely, ac yn Damascus mewn gorweddle.
3:12 Thus saith the LORD; As the shepherd taketh out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear; so shall the children of Israel be taken out that dwell in Samaria in the corner of a bed, and in Damascus in a couch.

3:13
Gwrandewch, a thystiolaethwch yn nhŷ Jacob, medd yr ARGLWYDD DUW, DUW y lluoedd,
3:13 Hear ye, and testify in the house of Jacob, saith the Lord GOD, the God of hosts,

3:14
Mai y dydd yr ymwelaf ag anwiredd Israel arno ef, y gofwyaf hefyd allorau Bethel: a chyrn yr allor a dorrir, ac a syrthiant i’r llawr.
3:14 That in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him I will also visit the altars of Bethel: and the horns of the altar shall be cut off, and fall to the ground.

3:15 A mi a drawaf y gaeafdy a’r hafdy; a derfydd am y tai ifori, a bydd diben ar y teiau mawrion, medd yr ARGLWYDD.
3:15 And I will smite the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have an end, saith the LORD.

PENNOD 4

4:1 Gwrandewch y gair hwn, gwartheg Basan, y rhai ydych ym mynydd Samaria, y rhai ydych yn gorthrymu y tlawd, yn ysigo yr anghenog, yn dywedyd wrth eu meistriaid, Dygwch, ac yfwn.
4:1 Hear this word, ye kine of Bashan, that are in the mountain of Samaria, which oppress the poor, which crush the needy, which say to their masters, Bring, and let us drink.

4:2
Tyngodd yr Arglwydd DDUW i’w sancteiddrwydd, y daw, wele, y dyddiau arnoch, y dwg efe chwi ymaith â drain, a’ch hiliogaeth â bachau pysgota.
4:2 The Lord GOD hath sworn by his holiness, that, lo, the days shall come upon you, that he will take you away with hooks, and your posterity with fishhooks.

4:3
A chwi a ewch allan i’r adwyau, bob un ar ei chyfer, a chwi a’u teflwch hwynt i’r palas, medd yr ARGLWYDD.
4:3 And ye shall go out at the breaches, every cow at that which is before her; and ye shall cast them into the palace, saith the LORD.

4:4
Deuwch i Bethel, a throseddwch, i Gilgal, a throseddwch fwyfwy: dygwch bob bore eich aberthau, a’ch degymau wedi tair blynedd o ddyddiau;
4:4 Come to Bethel, and transgress; at Gilgal multiply transgression; and bring your sacrifices every morning, and your tithes after three years:

4:5
Ac offrymwch o surdoes aberth diolch, cyhoeddwch a hysbyswch aberthau gwirfodd: canys hyn a hoffwch, meibion Israel, medd yr ARGLWYDD DDUW.
4:5 And offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving with leaven, and proclaim and publish the free offerings: for this liketh you, O ye children of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.

4:6
A rhoddais i chwi lendid dannedd yn eich holl ddinasoedd, ac eisiau bara yn eich holl leoedd: eto ni ddychwelasoch ataf fi, medd yr ARGLWYDD.
4:6 And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

4:7
4:7 And also I have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered.

4:8
Gwibiodd dwy ddinas neu dair i un ddinas, i yfed dwfr, ond nis diwallwyd: eto ni ddychwelasoch ataf fi, medd yr ARGLWYDD.
4:8 So two or three cities wandered unto one city, to drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

4:9
Trewais chwi â diflaniad, ac a mallter: pan amlhaodd eich gerddi, a’ch gwinllannoedd, a’ch ffigyswydd, a’ch olewydd, y lindys a’u hysodd: eto ni throesoch ataf fi, medd yr ARGLWYDD.
4:9 I have smitten you with blasting and mildew: when your gardens and your vineyards and your fig trees and your olive trees increased, the palmerworm devoured them: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

4:10
Anfonais yr haint yn eich mysg, megis yn ffordd yr Aifft: eich gwŷr ieuainc a leddais â’r cleddyf, gyda chaethgludo eich meirch; a chodais ddrewi eich gwersylloedd i’ch ffroenau: eto ni throesoch ataf fi, medd yr ARGLWYDD.
4:10 I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men have I slain with the sword, and have taken away your horses; and I have made the stink of your camps to come up unto your nostrils: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

4:11
Mi a ddymchwelais rai ohonoch, fel yr ymchwelodd DUW Sodom a Gomorra, ; ac yr oeddech fel pentewyn wedi ei achub o’r gynnau dân: eto ni throesoch ataf fi, medd yr ARGLWYDD.
4:11 I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

4:12
Oherwydd hynny yn y modd yma y gwnaf i ti, Israel: ac oherwydd mai hyn a wnaf i ti, bydd barod, Israel, i gyfarfod â’th DDUW.
4:12 Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.

4:13
Canys wele, Lluniwr y mynyddoedd, a Chreawdwr y gwynt, yr hwn a fynega i ddyn beth yw ei feddwl, ac a wna y bore yn dywyllwch, ac a gerdd ar uchelderau y ddaear, yr ARGLWYDD, DUW y lluoedd, yw ei enw.

4:13 For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name.

PENNOD 5

5:1 Gwrandewch y gair hwn a godaf i’ch erbyn, sef galarnad, O dŷ Israel;
5:1 Hear ye this word which I take up against you, even a lamentation, O house of Israel.

5:2 Y wyry Israel a syrthiodd; ni chyfyd mwy: gadawyd hi ar ei thir; nid oes a’i cyfyd.
5:2 The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more rise: she is forsaken upon her land; there is none to raise her up.

5:3 Canys y modd hyn y dywed yr ARGLWYDD DDUW; Y ddinas a aeth allan â mil, a weddill gant; a’r hon a aeth allan ar ei chanfed, a weddill ddeg i dŷ Israel.
5:3 For thus saith the Lord GOD; The city that went out by a thousand shall leave an hundred, and that which went forth by an hundred shall leave ten, to the house of Israel.

5:4 Oherwydd fel hyn y dywed yr ARGLWYDD wrth dy Israel, Ceisiwch fi, a byw fyddwch.
5:4 For thus saith the LORD unto the house of Israel, Seek ye me, and ye shall live:

5:5 Ond nac ymgeisiwch â Bethel, ac nac ewch i Gilgal, ac na thramwywch i Beerseba: oherwydd gan gaethgludo y caethgludir Gilgal, a Bethel a fydd yn ddiddim.
5:5 But seek not Bethel, nor enter into Gilgal, and pass not to Beersheba: for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Bethel shall come to nought.

5:6 Ceisiwch yr ARGLWYDD, a byw fyddwch, rhag iddo dorri allan yn nhŷ Joseff fel tân, a’i ddifa, ac na byddo a’i diffoddo yn Bethel.
5:6 Seek the LORD, and ye shall live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and devour it, and there be none to quench it in Bethel.

5:7 Y rhai a drowch farn yn wermod, ac a adewch gyfiawnder ar y llawr,
5:7 Ye who turn judgment to wormwood, and leave off righteousness in the earth,

5:8 Ceisiwch yr hwn a wnaeth y saith seren, ac Orion, ac a dry gysgod angau yn foreddydd, ac a dywylla y dydd yn nos, yr hwn a eilw ddyfroedd y mor, ac a’u tywallt ar wyneb y ddaear: Yr ARGLWYDD yw ei enw:
5:8 Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name:

5:9 Yr hwn sydd yn nerthu yr anrheithiedig yn erbyn y cryf, fel y delo yr anrheithiedig yn erbyn yr amddiffynfa.
5:9 That strengtheneth the spoiled against the strong, so that the spoiled shall come against the fortress.

5:10 Cas ganddynt a geryddo yn y porth, a ffiaidd ganddynt a lefaro yn berffaith.
5:10 They hate him that rebuketh in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly.

5:11 Oherwydd hynny am i chwi sathru y tlawd, a dwyn y beichiau gwenith oddi arno; chwi a adeiladasoch dai o gerrig nadd, ond ni thrigwch ynddynt, planasoch winllannoedd hyfryd, ac nid yfwch eu gwin hwynt.
5:11 Forasmuch therefore as your treading is upon the poor, and ye take from him burdens of wheat: ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink wine of them.

5:12 Canys mi a adwaen eich anwireddau lawer, a’ch pechodau cryfion: y maent yn blino y cyfiawn, yn cymryd iawn, ac yn troi heibio y tlawd yn y porth.
5:12 For I know your manifold transgressions, and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their right.

5:13 Am hynny y neb a fyddo gall a ostega yr amser hwnnw: canys amser drwg yw.
5:13 Therefore the prudent shall keep silence in that time; for it is an evil time.

5:14 Ceisiwch ddaioni, ac nid drygioni; fel y byddoch fyw: ac felly yr ARGLWYDD, DUW y lluoedd, fydd gyda chwi, fel y dywedasoch.
5:14 Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken.

5:15 Casewch ddrygioni, a hoffwch ddaioni, a gosodwch farn yn y porth: fe allai y bydd ARGLWYDD DDUW y lluoedd yn raslon i weddill Joseff.
5:15 Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the LORD God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.

5:16 Am hynny fel hyn y dywed yr ARGLWYDD, DUW y lluoedd, yr Arglwydd; Ym mhob heol y bydd cwynfan, ac ym mhob priffordd y dywedant, O! O! a galwant yr arddwr i alaru; a’r neb a fedro alaru, i gwynfan.
5:16 Therefore the LORD, the God of hosts, the Lord, saith thus; Wailing shall be in all streets; and they shall say in all the highways, Alas! alas! and they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and such as are skilful of lamentation to wailing.

5:17 Ac ym mhob gwinllan y bydd cwynfan: canys tramwyaf trwy dy ganol di, medd yr ARGLWYDD.
5:17 And in all vineyards shall be wailing: for I will pass through thee, saith the LORD.

5:18 Gwae y neb sydd yn dymuno dydd yr ARGLWYDD! beth yw hwnnw i chwi? tywyllwch, ac nid goleuni yw dydd yr ARGLWYDD.
5:18 Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light.

5:19 Megis pe ffoai gŵr rhag llew, ac arth yn cyfarfod ag ef; a myned i’r tŷ, a phwyso ei law ar y pared, a’i frathu o sarff.
5:19 As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.

5:20 Oni bydd dydd yr ARGLWYDD yn dywyllwch, ac nid yn oleuni? yn dywyll iawn, ac heb lewyrch ynddo?
5:20 Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?

5:21 Caseais a ffieiddiais eich gwyliau ac nid aroglaf yn eich cymanfaoedd.
5:21 I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies.

5:22 Canys er i chwi offrymu i mi boeth-offrymau, a’ch offrymau bwyd, ni fyddaf fodlon iddynt; ac nid edrychaf ar hedd-offrwm eich pasgedigion.
5:22 Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts.

5:23 Symud oddi wrthyf drwst dy ganiadau: canys ni wrandawaf beroriaeth dy nablau.
5:23 Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols.

5:24 Ond rheded barn fel dyfroedd, a chyfiawnder fel ffrwd gref.
5:24 But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.

5:25 A offrymasoch chwi i mi aberthau a bwyd-offrymau yn y diffeithwch ddeugain mlynedd, tŷ Israel?
5:25 Have ye offered unto me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?

5:26 Ond dygasoch babell eich Moloch a Chiwn, eich delwau, seren eich duw, a wnaethoch i chwi eich hunain.
5:26 But ye have borne the tabernacle of your Moloch and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves.

5:27 Am hynny y caethgludaf chwi i’r tu hwnt i Damascus, medd yr ARGLWYDD; DUW y lluoedd yw ei enw.
5:27 Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith the LORD, whose name is The God of hosts.

PENNOD 6

6:1 Gwae y rhai esmwyth arnynt yn Seion, ac sydd yn ymddiried ym mynydd Samaria, y rhai a enwir yn bennaf o’r cenhedloedd, y rhai y daeth t^ Israel atynt!
6:1 Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, which are named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came!

6:2
Tramwywch i Calne, ac edrychwch, ac ewch oddi yno i Hamath fwyaf; yna disgynnwch i Gath y Philistiaid: ai gwell ydynt na’r teyrnasoedd hyn? ai helaethach eu terfyn hwy na’ch terfyn chwi?
6:2 Pass ye unto Calneh, and see; and from thence go ye to Hamath the great: then go down to Gath of the Philistines: be they better than these kingdoms? or their border greater than your border?

6:3
Y rhai ydych yn pellhau y dydd drwg, ac yn nesáu eisteddle trais;
6:3 Ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;

6:4
Gorwedd y maent ar welyau ifori, ac ymestyn ar eu glythau, a bwyta yr ŵyn o’r praidd, a’r lloi o ganol y cut;
6:4 That lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall;

6:5
Y rhai a ddatganant gyda llais y nabl, dychmygasant iddynt eu hun offer cerdd, megis Dafydd;
6:5 That chant to the sound of the viol, and invent to themselves instruments of music, like David;

6:6
Y rhai a yfant win mewn ffiolau, ac a ymirant â’r ennaint pennaf; ond nid ymofidiant am ddryllio Joseff.
6:6 That drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief ointments: but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.

6:7
Am hynny yr awr hon hwy a ddygir yn gaeth gyda’r cyntaf a ddygir yn gaetlh; a gwledd y rhai a ymestynnant, a symudir.
6:7 Therefore now shall they go captive with the first that go captive, and the banquet of them that stretched themselves shall be removed.

6:8
Tyngodd yr ARGLWYDD DDUW iddo ei hun, Ffiaidd gennyf odidowgrwyidd Jacob, a chaseais ei balasau: am hynny y rhoddaf i fyny y ddinas ac sydd ynddi, medd ARGLWYDD DDUW y lluoedd.
6:8 The Lord GOD hath sworn by himself, saith the LORD the God of hosts, I abhor the excellency of Jacob, and hate his palaces: therefore will I deliver up the city with all that is therein.

6:9
A bydd, os gweddillir mewn un tŷ ddeg o ddynion, y byddant feirw.
6:9 And it shall come to pass, if there remain ten men in one house, that they shall die.

6:10
Ei ewythr a’i cyfyd i fyny, a’r hwn a’i llysg, i ddwyn yr esgyrn allan o’r tŷ, ac a ddywed wrth yr hwn a fyddo with ystlysau y tŷ, A oes eto neb gyda thi ? ac efe a ddywed, Nac oes: yna y dywed yntau. Taw, am na wasanaetha cofio enw yr ARGLWYDD.
6:10 And a man’s uncle shall take him up, and he that burneth him, to bring out the bones out of the house, and shall say unto him that is by the sides of the house, Is there yet any with thee? and he shall say, No. Then shall he say, Hold thy tongue: for we may not make mention of the name of the LORD.

6:11
Oherwydd wele yr ARGLWYDD yn gorchymyn, ac efe a dery y tŷ mawr agennau, a’r tŷ bychan â holltau.
6:11 For, behold, the LORD commandeth, and he will smite the great house with breaches, and the little house with clefts.

6:12
A red meirch ar y graig? a ardd neb hi ag ychen? canys troesoch farn yn fustl, a ffrwyth cyfiawnder yn wermod.
6:12 Shall horses run upon the rock? will one plow there with oxen? for ye have turned judgment into gall, and the fruit of righteousness into hemlock:

6:13
O chwi y rhai sydd yn llawenychu mewn peth diddim, yn dywedyd, Onid o’n nerth ein hun y cymerasom i ni gryfder?
6:13 Ye which rejoice in a thing of nought, which say, Have we not taken to us horns by our own strength?

6:14
Ond wele, mi a gyfodaf i’ch erbyn chwi, tŷ Israel, medd ARGLWYDD DDUW y lluoedd, genedl, a hwy a’ch cystuddiant chwi, o’r ffordd yr ewch i Hamath, hyd afon y diffeithwch.
6:14 But, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O house of Israel, saith the LORD the God of hosts; and they shall afflict you from the entering in of Hemath unto the river of the wilderness.

PENNOD 7

7:1 Fel hyn y dangosodd yr ARGLWYDD i mi, ac wele ef yn ffurfio ceiliogod rhedyn pan ddechreuodd yr adladd godi; ac wele, adladd wedi lladd gwair y brenin oedd.
7:1 Thus hath the Lord GOD showed unto me; and, behold, he formed grasshoppers in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king’s mowings.

7:2
A phan ddarfu iddynt fwyta glaswellt y tir, yna y dywedais, Arbed, ARGLWYDD, atolwg; pwy a gyfyd Jacob? canys bychan yw.
7:2 And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord GOD, forgive, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.

7:3
Edifarhaodd yr ARGLWYDD am hyn: Ni bydd hyn, eb yr ARGLWYDD.
7:3 The LORD repented for this: It shall not be, saith the LORD.

7:4
Fel hyn y dangosodd yr ARGLWYDD DDUW i mi: ac wele yr ARGLWYDD DDUW yn galw i farn trwy dân, a difaodd y tân y dyfnder mawr, ac a ysodd beth.
7:4 Thus hath the Lord GOD showed unto me: and, behold, the Lord GOD called to contend by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and did eat up a part.

7:5
Yna y dywedais, ARGLWYDD DDUW, paid, atolwg: pwy a gyfyd Jacob? canys bychan yw.
7:5 Then said I, O Lord GOD, cease, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.

7:6
Edifarhaodd yr ARGLWYDD am hyn: Ni bydd hyn chwaith, eb yr ARGLWYDD DDUW.
7:6 The LORD repented for this: This also shall not be, saith the Lord GOD.

7:7
Fel hyn y dangosodd efe i mi; ac wele yr ARGLWYDD yn sefyll ar gaer a wnaethpwyd with linyn, ac yn ei law linyn.
7:7 Thus he showed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand.

7:8
A’r ARGLWYDD a ddywedodd wrthyf, Beth a weli di, Amos? a mi a ddywedais, Llinyn. A’r ARGLWYDD a ddywedodd, Wele, gosodaf linyn yng nghanol fy mhobl Israel, ac ni chwanegaf fyned heibio iddynt mwyach.
7:8 And the LORD said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more:

7:9
Uchelfeydd Isaac hefyd a wneir yn anghyfannedd, a chysegrau Israel a ddifethir; a mi a gyfodaf yn erbyn tŷ Jeroboam â’r cleddyf.
7:9 And the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.

7:10
Yna Amaseia offeiriad Bethel a anfonodd at Jeroboam brenin Israel, gan ddywedyd, Cydfwriadodd Amos i’th erbyn yng nghanol tŷ Israel: ni ddichon y tir ddwyn ei holl eiriau ef.
7:10 Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words.

7:11
Canys fel hyn y dywed Amos, Jeroboam a fydd farw trwy y cleddyf, ac Israel a gaethgludir yn llwyr allan o’i wlad.
7:11 For thus Amos saith, Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of their own land.

7:12
Dywedodd Amaseia hefyd wrth Amos, Ti weledydd, dos, ffo ymaith i wlad Jwda, a bwyta fara yno, a phroffwyda yno:
7:12 Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there:

7:13
Na chwanega broffwydo yn Bethel mwy: canys capel y brenin a llys y brenin yw.
7:13 But prophesy not again any more at Bethel: for it is the king’s chapel, and it is the king’s court.

7:14
Yna Amos a atebodd ac a ddywedodd wrth Amaseia, Nid profiwyd oeddwn i, ac nid mab i broffwyd oeddwn i: namyn bugail oeddwn i, a chasglydd ffigys gwylltion:
7:14 Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son; but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of sycamore fruit:

7:15
A’r ARGLWYDD a’m cymerodd oddi ar ôl y praidd, a’r ARGLWYDD a ddywedodd wrthyf, Dos, a phroffwyda i’m pobl Israel.
7:15 And the LORD took me as I followed the flock, and the LORD said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.

7:16
Yr awr hon gan hynny gwrando air yr ARGLWYDD; Ti a ddywedi, Na phroffwyda yn erbyn Israel, ac nac yngan yn erbyn tŷ Isaac,
7:16 Now therefore hear thou the word of the LORD: Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and drop not thy word against the house of Isaac.

7:17
Am hynny fel hyn y dywed yr ARGLWYDD: Dy wraig a buteinia yn y ddinas, dy feibion a’th ferched a syrthiant gan y cleddyf, a’th dir a rennir wrth linyn, a thithau a fyddi farw mewn tir halogedig, a chan gaethgludo y caethgludir Israel allan o’i wlad.
7:17 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Thy wife shall be an harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in a polluted land: and Israel shall surely go into captivity forth of his land.

PENNOD 8

8:1 Fel hyn y dangosodd yr ARGLWYDD i mi; ac wele gawellaid o ffrwythydd haf.
8:1 Thus hath the Lord GOD showed unto me: and behold a basket of summer fruit.

8:2
Ac efe a ddywedodd, Beth a weli di, Amos? A mi a ddywedais, Cawellaid o ffrwythydd haf. Yna y dywedodd yr ARGLWYDD wrthyf, Daeth y diwedd ar fy mhobl Israel; nid af heibio iddynt mwyach.
8:2 And he said, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A basket of summer fruit. Then said the LORD unto me, The end is come upon my people of Israel; I will not again pass by them any more.

8:3
Caniadau y deml hefyd a droir yn udo ar y dydd hwnnw, medd yr ARGLWYDD DDUW: llawer o gelaneddau a fydd ym mhob lle; bwrir hwynt allan yn ddistaw.
8:3 And the songs of the temple shall be howlings in that day, saith the Lord GOD: there shall be many dead bodies in every place; they shall cast them forth with silence.

8:4
Gwrandewch hyn, y sawl ydych yn llyncu yr anghenog, i ddifa tlodion y tir,
8:4 Hear this, O ye that swallow up the needy, even to make the poor of the land to fail,

8:5
Gan ddywedyd. Pa bryd yr â y mis heibio, fel y gwerthom ŷd? a’r Saboth, fel y dygom allan y gwenith, gan brinhau yr effa, a helaethu y sicl, ac anghyfiawnu y cloriannau trwy dwyll?
8:5 Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?

8:6
I brynu y tlawd er arian, a’r anghenus er pâr o esgidiau, ac i werthu gwehilion y gwenith?
8:6 That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes; yea, and sell the refuse of the wheat?

8:7
Tyngodd yr ARGLWYDD i ragorfraint Jacob, Diau nid anghofiodd byth yr un o’u gweithredoedd hwynt.
8:7 The LORD hath sworn by the excellency of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their works.

8:8
Oni chryn y ddaear am hyn? ac oni alara ei holl breswylwyr? cyfyd hefyd i gyd fel llif; a bwrir hi ymaith, a hi a foddir, megis gan afon yr Aifft.
8:8 Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth therein? and it shall rise up wholly as a flood; and it shall be cast out and drowned, as by the flood of Egypt.

8:9
A’r dydd hwnnw, medd yr ARGLWYDD DDUW, y gwnaf i’r haul fachludo hanner dydd, a thywyllaf y ddaear liw dydd golau.
8:9 And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day:

8:10
Troaf hefyd eich gwyliau yn alar, a’ch holl ganiadau yn oernad: dygaf sachliain ar yr holl lwynau, a moelni ar bob, pen: a mi a’i’gwnaf fel galar am unmab, a’i ddiwedd fel dydd chwerw.
8:10 And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day.

8:11
Wele, y mae y dyddiau yn dyfod, medd yr ARGLWYDD DDUW, yr anfonaf newyn i’r tir; nid newyn am fara, ac nid syched am ddwfr, ond am wrando geiriau yr ARGLWYDD.
8:11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:

8:12
A hwy a grwydrant o fôr i fôr, ac a wibiant o’r gogledd hyd y dwyrain, i geisio gair yr ARGLWYDD, ac nis cant.
8:12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.

8:13
Y diwmod hwnnw y gwyryfon glân a’r meibion ieuainc a ddiffoddant o syched.
8:13 In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst.

8:14
Y rhai a dyngant i bechod Samaria, ac a ddywedant, Byw yw dy dduw di, O Dan; a, Byw yw ffordd Beerseba; hwy a syrthiant, ac ni chodant mwy.
8:14 They that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, Thy god, O Dan, liveth; and, The manner of Beersheba liveth; even they shall fall, and never rise up again.

PENNOD 9

9:1 Gwelais yr ARGLWYDD yn sefyll ar yr allor: ac efe a ddywedodd, Taro gapan y drws, fel y siglo y gorsingau; a thor hwynt oll yn y pen; minnau a laddaf y rhai olaf ohonynt â’r cleddyf: ni ffy ymaith ohonynt a ffo, ac ni ddianc ohonynt a ddihango.
9:1 I saw the Lord standing upon the altar: and he said, Smite the lintel of the door, that the posts may shake: and cut them in the head, all of them; and I will slay the last of them with the sword: he that fleeth of them shall not flee away, and he that escapeth of them shall not be delivered.

9:2
Pe cloddient hyd uffern, fy llaw a’u tynnai hwynt oddi yno; a phe dringent i’r nefoedd, mi a’u disgynnwn hwynt oddi yno:
9:2 Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them; though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down:

9:3
A phe llechent ar ben Carmel, chwiliwn, a chymerwn hwynt oddi yno; a phe ymguddient o’m golwg yng ngwaelod y mor, oddi yno y gorchmynnaf i’r sarff eu brathu hwynt:
9:3 And though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out thence; and though they be hid from my sight in the bottom of the sea, thence will I command the serpent, and he shall bite them:

9:4
Ac os ânt i gaethiwed o flaen eu gelynion, oddi yno y gorchmynnaf i’r cleddyf, ac efe a’u lladd hwynt: a gosodaf fy ngolwg yn eu herbyn er drwg, ac nid er da iddynt.
9:4 And though they go into captivity before their enemies, thence will I command the sword, and it shall slay them: and I will set mine eyes upon them for evil, and not for good.

9:5
Ac ARGLWYDD DDUW y lluoedd a gyffwrdd â’r ddaear, a hi a dawdd; a galara pawb a’r a drig ynddi, a hi a gylyd oll fel llifeiriant, ac a foddir megis gan afon yr Aifft.
9:5 And the Lord GOD of hosts is he that toucheth the land, and it shall melt, and all that dwell therein shall mourn: and it shall rise up wholly like a flood; and shall be drowned, as by the flood of Egypt.

9:6
Yr hwn a adeilada ei esgynfeydd yn y nefoedd, ac a sylfaenodd ei fintai ar y ddaear, yr hwn a eilw ddyfroedd y mo^r, ac a’u tywallt ar wyneb y ddaear: Yr ARGLWYDD yw ei enw.
9:6 It is he that buildeth his stories in the heaven, and hath founded his troop in the earth; he that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name.

9:7
Onid ydych chwi, meibion Israel, i mi fel meibion yr Ethiopiaid? medd yr ARGLWYDD: oni ddygais i fyny feibion Israel allan o dir yr Aifft, a’r Philisitiaid o Cafftor, a’r Syriaid o Cir?
9:7 Are ye not as children of the Ethiopians unto me, O children of Israel? saith the LORD. Have not I brought up Israel out of the land of Egypt? and the Philistines from Caphtor, and the Syrians from Kir?

9:8
Wele lygaid yr ARGLWYDD ar y deyrnas bechadurus, a mi a’i difethaf oddi ar wyneb y ddaear: ond ni lwyr ddifethaf dŷ Jacob, medd yr ARGLWYDD.
9:8 Behold, the eyes of the Lord GOD are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth; saving that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob, saith the LORD.

9:9
Canys wele, myfi a orchmynnaf,. ac a ogrynaf dŷ Israel ymysg yr holl genhedloedd, fel y gogrynir ŷd mewn gogr; ac ni syrth y gronyn lleiaf i’r llawr.
9:9 For, lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all nations, like as corn is sifted in a sieve, yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth.

9:10
Holl bechaduriaid fy mhobl a fyddant feirw gan y cleddyf, y rhai a ddywedant, Ni oddiwedd drwg ni, ac ni achub ein blaen.
9:10 All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, which say, The evil shall not overtake nor prevent us.

9:11
Y dydd hwnnw y codaf babell i Dafydd, yr hon a syrthiodd, ac a gaeaf ei bylchau, ac a godaf ei hadwyau, ac a’i hadeiladaf fel yn y dyddiau gynt:
9:11 In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old:

9:12
Fel y meddianno y rhai y gelwir fy enw arnynt, weddill Edom, a’r holl genhedloedd, medd yr ARGLWYDD, yr hwn a wna hyn.
9:12 That they may possess the remnant of Edom, and of all the heathen, which are called by my name, saith the LORD that doeth this.

9:13
Wele y dyddiau yn dyfod, medd yr ARGLWYDD, y goddiwedd yr arddwr y medelwr, a sathrydd y grawnwin yr heuwr had; a’r mynyddoedd a ddefnynnant felyswin, a’r holl fryniau a doddant!
9:13 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him that soweth seed; and the mountains shall drop sweet wine, and all the hills shall melt.

9:14
A dychwelaf gaethiwed fy mhobl Israel; a hwy a adeiladant y dinasoedd anghyfannedd, ac a’u preswyliant; a hwy a blannant winllannoedd, ac a yfant o’u gwin; gwnânt hefyd erddi, a bwytânt eu ffrwyth hwynt.
9:14 And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them.

9:15
Ac mi a’u plannaf hwynt yn eu tir, ac nis diwreiddir hwynt mwyach o’u tir a roddais i iddynt, medd yr ARGLWYDD DDUW.
9:15 And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God.
