Da iawn fydd gan gannoedd cyfeillion Mr. David Rosser, gynt o Aberdâr a
Phontypridd, ddeall ei fod wedi ei ddewis allan o liaws o ymgeiswyr yn
arweinydd côr eglwys Immanual, ar heol Michigan,
yn agos i 24th Street, Chicago.
Rhifa y côr dros gant o bobl yr
eglwys. Gwyddai y rhai sydd yn adwaen Mr. David Rosser am ei allu
corawl arweiniol. Pan yr ymaflodd Dafydd yn yr awenau cafodd y côr adgyfodiad

The hundreds of friends o Mr. David Rosser, formerly of
Aberdâr and Pont-ty-pridd, will be pleased to know that he has been chosen out
of a great number of candidates as the leader of the choir of the Immanual
church, on Michigan Road, near 24th Street, Chicago. There are over
a hundred church members in the choir. Those who know Mr. David Rosser know of
his ability in conducting choirs.. When Dafydd took over the reins the choir
had a musical revival and the new style of singing is very satisfactory for the
church and the audience.

Mae ysgrifenydd yn y Drych yn dweyd fel hyn: Gallaf ddyweyd yn ddibetrus y gall
dynion da wneud bywoliaeth gysurus yn California
ond iddynt gadw o ddyled. Anfona amryw i ymofyn am ddeuheudir California.
Atebaf y rhai hyn - fel yr ysgrifenais o’r blaen - fod y tiroedd yn rhatach yng
nghanolbarth California, a bod y
ffrwythau yn tyfu yn well yno. Yr unig ffrwythau a hawlir genym yn fwy rhagorol
ydyw yr oranges a’r lemons. Ond tybia llawer yn awr y gellir tyfu y ffrwythau yn
gystal yn y San Joaquin a’r Sacramento Valleys ag a ellir yma. A writer in "Y Drych" says: I can
say without hesitation that people can make a comfortable living in California
provided they keep out of debt. Many people have wriiten to ask about southern California.
I tell them as I’ve written before - that the land is cheaper in central California,
and that fruit grows better there. The only fruit which we claim are of better
quality are oranges and lemons. But now many think that the
fruits can be grown just as well in the San Joaquin and SacramentoValleys as they can here

DaTwo Welsh doctors who are climbing to fame in their work in Chicago are Dr.
T. J. Watkins, one of the Watkins’s of Steuben, N.Y., and Dr. J. T. Lave, or
Levi - cousin of the Rev. Thomas Levi, Aberystwyth. The former is one of the
most important surgeons in some of the hospitals; and the latter is famous with

discoverd the source of sin (‘a sin-place’) in any of them

Bu farw yn Spanish Forks, Utah, y cerddor galluog Mr. William H. Davies, yr hwn
a anwyd yn Merthyr Tydfil, Gorph. 4, 1842; ac yr oedd ei angladd yn un
anrhydeddus iawn, llawer wedi dyfod o bellder mawr. Yr oedd Mr. Davies yn ddyn
gonest, ac yn zelog dros bob peth da. Gwnaeth wasanaeth mawr fel athraw, mewn
dysgu corau a seindyrf, a theimlir colled ar ei ol. Pan oedd Apmadoc yma bu y
ddau yn cydganu, ac nis gellir
gor-brisio ei wasanaeth gyda cherddoriaeth. Ennillodd fuddugoliaeth mewn
Eisteddfod fu yma, a bydd ei ddylanwad yn hir ar gantorion. Bu am flwyddyn yn
gofnodydd i’r Young Men’s Co-operative Store yma, ac mewn masnachdai eraill yn
yr ardal; ac yr oedd iddo air uchel gan ei holl gwsmeriaid. Ond methodd ei
iechyd, a bu yn gweithio fel saer celfydd. Efe oedd un a gododd y pafilion yma,
sef ty i’r bobl gynnal eu cyfarfodydd, yr hwn gostiodd o $3000 i $4000 ac efe
oedd cofnodydd y Cambrian Society. Pregethwyd yn ei angladd ar y 27ain gan yr
enwog W. Crier, cyfreithiwr, a John Moore; ac yn Gymraeg gan yr enwog W. B.
Jones, gynt o Scranton, Pa. Hefyd canodd y côr mawr yr oedd yr ymadawedig yn
aelod o hono o dan arweiniad W. T: James, yr hwn a gollodd lawer o ddagrau ar
ôl ei anwyl frawd, yr hwn adawodd ar ei ôl weddw a merch gariadus, yn gystal a

The talented musician Mr. William H. Davies has died in Spanish Forks, Utah.
He was born in Merthyr Tydfil, July
4, 1842. His funeral was a very honarable one, may had come a great
distance. Mr. Davies was an honest man, and zealous for everythin that was
good. He rendered great service as a teacher, teaching choirs and orchestras,
and he will be sorely missed (‘there will be a loss after him’). When Apmadoc
was here both sang together, and his service to music cannot be overestimated.
He gained victory in an Eisteddfod that was here, and his influnece on singers
will last a long time. For a year he was the clerk of the Young Men’s
Co-operative Store here, and in other shops in the area; and all his customers
spoke highly of him. But his health failed, and he worked as a skilled
woodworker. He was one of the people who built the pavilion here, the place for
people to hold their meetings, which cost from $3000 to $4000 and he was the
secretary of the Cambrian Society. The sermons at his funeral on the 27th
were given by the renowned W. Crier, lawyer, and John Moore; and in Welsh by
the eminent W. B. Jones, formerly of Scranton, Pa.
The great choir of which the departed was a member also sang, under W. T.
James, who shed many tears after his dear brother, who leaves a widow and a
loving daughter, as well as brothers and sisters.
