2593e Gwefan Cymru-Catalonia. Index page to texts on our website written in the dialect of south-east Wales ("Y Wenhwyseg", literally ‘the language of the people of Gwent’). Also texts on our website in Welsh and English about this dialect. A century ago this was the majority dialect of Wales; today it scarcely exists, as the population of the south-east committed ‘linguistic suicide’ in the first half of the 1900s and turned their back on the Welsh language.
